Bowness on Windermere is lovely. Lots of pubs and scenery. Keswick for shopping and some great walks nearby. Grasmere just for the gingerbread shop. Ullswater for paddleboarding etc on the lake and there’s Glenridding nearby for walks (and a lovely pub).

It’s still the norm in primary. Much less so in secondary but I think that’s probably more to do with the kids outgrowing the dressing up and not wanting to look uncool.
