Two fun days of #UX Training in @ucclibrary.bsky.social with @andypriestner.bsky.social. We learned lots and got our hands data dirty!

First day of four for @ucclibrary.bsky.social staff working with @andypriestner.bsky.social on building our capability to carry out user experience research on our library services. Such a rich capture of data directly from our users. Break-up letters, behavioral mapping, affinity mapping. Oh my.

Arrived in Hong Kong ahead of #UserExperience work with several universities. Was expecting big tech advances since my last visit in 2016, but not really apparent yet. Most notably, cash is still king here.

Is it just me or is this staircase actually a stone brontosaurus hiding in plain sight?

Fantastic training session from @andypriestner.bsky.social yesterday in #QUB on #UXdesign in HE. Joined by some of my @cedqub.bsky.social colleagues, we explored user-centric design in #HEI. I learned so much and left feeling inspired and motivated about UX!! Also…post-its and tree planting …🌲

So I asked my course participants today “Who invented Post-Its?” The answer I was looking for: Romy from Romy & Michele’s High School Reunion. Of course.

Brilliant presentations from staff here at Derry/Londonderry today - after a day of testing prototypes with users. #uxlibs #prototyping #libraries #uxdesign

Active discussions here in Derry/Londonderry about why we don’t prototype even though we can see the value of testing before investing. #prototyping #libraries #userexperience #uxlibs #uxdesign #designthinking

I’m terrible at seeing tourist attractions while away working but made it to the Giant’s Causeway this morning and it was completely stunning.

Beautiful blue winter skies in Coleraine, Northern Ireland - University of Ulster. Can you spot my training room? #uxlibs #userexperience

If you fancy speaking at Objectively The Best Conference (TM), check out the #UxLibs deets below. I'd heartily recommend speaking if you have something to say, it's the most engaged and engaging of communities to interact with.

In my continued quest to help gently usher as much of the academic community towards this platform as possible, I've written the below for the @lseimpactblog.bsky.social. If you read it and have other advice you'd add, do leave it as a comment on the blog!

BlueSky is just a left "echo chamber" Yeah, it's terrible surrounding yourself with compassionate people who don't want to see the world burn, oppose genocide and think Donald Trump is a dollar-store Hitler.

As ever, I’m more intrigued by what library study furniture is not being used. In both cases I’m guessing it’s about desk space (and in pic 1: power). Staff will be actively researching this and other issues this afternoon #uxlibs #userexperience #UU #Ulster #Coleraine

Belfast-bound again. Might have been cheaper to rent a flat for a few months! @o2stk.bsky.social

I’m looking at you @clauersen.bsky.social 😂

“I’ve noticed I’m not in your starter pack. Any particular reason for that?”

Hi all I've made a running list of library related Starter Packs to get everybody connected christianlauersen.net/2024/11/17/r... Thx to everybody who made the Starter Packs @mattlibrarian.bsky.social @wehere.bsky.social @openresshef.bsky.social @jregensb.bsky.social @nvbinder.bsky.social

Off to Northern Ireland again tomorrow - sixth visit of the year so far! This time working with the University of Ulster at all 3 campuses. First up: Coleraine. #userexperience #uxtraining #uxresearch #uxdesign #libraries #designthinking #codesign

Great to sign off on my consultancy with Queen’s Belfast Library today. Although User Experience has been a significant element, so has cultural transformation and staff workflows.

Only just realised that ‘the old place’ was rebranded as a ballot box ‘X’. How slow were we?

So many lovely old favourites turning up here, I'm going to have extend the dining table and get the spare chairs out of the garage.

Morning new followers and thank you x
