#OTD in 1969, EVA's were undertaken on Apollo 9 by Dave Scott & Rusty Schweickart. In this pin-sharp reprocessed image, Schweickart is floating around the LM window as he tests the PLSS for the first time. The next time the PLSS was used, was by Neil Armstrong on the Moon.

#OTD 1969. Apollo 9. Such is the resolution, once enhanced, the tiny 0.6mm dot on this half-century old film frame reveals the Saturn V 3rd stage (S-IVB) as it is remotely fired into an orbit around the Sun. McDivitt: ‘It's just like a bright star disappearing into the distance.’

The crew of Apollo 14 found it difficult to sleep - partly due to the angle at which they landed. They felt they were slipping down into a crater, and Ed Mitchell would regularly lift the blinds to check they were not. Wonderful clarity in this small section of the full panorama.
