Wow! Just in. Today's lunar eclipse, captured from the perspective of the Moon itself, by @firefly-aerospace.bsky.social Blue Ghost lander! It shows the Sun emerging from behind Earth.

#OTD in 1969, EVA's were undertaken on Apollo 9 by Dave Scott & Rusty Schweickart. In this pin-sharp reprocessed image, Schweickart is floating around the LM window as he tests the PLSS for the first time. The next time the PLSS was used, was by Neil Armstrong on the Moon.

"Picking up some dust." Spectacular footage from the Moon - it may look like science fiction, but it's science fact. Credit: @firefly-aerospace.bsky.social

#OTD 1969. Apollo 9. Such is the resolution, once enhanced, the tiny 0.6mm dot on this half-century old film frame reveals the Saturn V 3rd stage (S-IVB) as it is remotely fired into an orbit around the Sun. McDivitt: ‘It's just like a bright star disappearing into the distance.’

Good grief check out this photo just in from the Moon!! Huge congratulations to @firefly-aerospace.bsky.social #BlueGhost's shadow, the lunar surface and Earth above. Wow.

Happening right now around the Moon! This video gets better every time I see it. Earthset to Earthrise. Good luck with the landing #BlueGhost Credit: Firefly Aerospace

The crew of Apollo 14 found it difficult to sleep - partly due to the angle at which they landed. They felt they were slipping down into a crater, and Ed Mitchell would regularly lift the blinds to check they were not. Wonderful clarity in this small section of the full panorama.

#OTD 1962. John Glenn watches his Atlas booster 'fall away' against the curvature of Earth through the window of his Mercury capsule. We can watch too in this new processed section of the 16mm film, reflected in his visor. #GeminiAndMercuryRemastered is coming...

Searching for Ed Mitchell, searching for Cone crater. "[Let's] take a break, get the map, and see if we can find out exactly where we are." Recovered from overexposed film, and a sun-struck dusty lens, here is Mitchell #OTD in 1971, checking his map during EVA-2 on Apollo 14:

On this day in 1971, Alan Shepard brought the Lunar Module 'Antares' down in this utterly wondrous place. Seen here in #ApolloRemastered. In the upcoming #GeminiAndMercuryRemastered, we'll see Shepard up close, aboard 'Freedom 7' as he became the first American in space.

It's what's inside that counts. The Apollo suit minus its outer layers. Here, Gene Cernan is undergoing final suit fitting prior to his Apollo 17 mission, at ILC Dover, Delaware. (Photo by NASA)
