New: All 50 states have now introduced right to repair legislation. A really amazing milestone for a grassroots movement. Wisconsin just became the last state to do it: www.404media.co/all-50-state...

Rocks for brains

I haven't posted a lot lately Mostly because a lot of What Has Happened has left me without words. Now, more than ever, I think it's important to post about hope and joy. Yes, be aware. Build, plan, strategize. But joy has its usefulness too. Joy has impact.

Yes, people become rather less interested in academic and philosophical questions about AI tech when the AI techbros pushing it take over their country and start dismantling the economy and their jobs. The tech is swiftly becoming associated with some very dark things in the public eye.

More of this energy

Pardon Tracker is an independent investigative journalism and data visualization project, documenting the statements, activities, and networks of the individuals that received pardons or commutations for criminal charges related to the attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. Details here:

I wouldn't be surprised if the GOP made a play to repeal the 22nd amendment

Ummm.....

I have no doubt these future fires will be blamed on "mismanagement" from the states themselves

Happy “No Kings Day” my fellow bad a$$ Bluesky rebels ✊🏻✊🏾✊🏿🇺🇸💙🦋 Scene from D.C. today We the people are pissed! #50501movement #FiftyFiftyOne #BuildTheResistance #PoliticalRevolution #NoVoiceUnheard

the #fiftyfiftyone (50501) #protest in #Portland #Oregon was spectacular!! The massive scale of it was truly impressive. I am pretty sure the start of it wrapped around to end of it! It was on both sides of the river!

President’s Day protest in Portland, Oregon #portland #protest

Happy President’s Day from Union Square in NYC, where over 10,000 people filled the streets to oppose the Musk-Trump coup. Impassioned calls for Congress to do their job. The Resistance Revival Chorus led the march down Broadway. #StopTheCoup #ResistTheDictators #NotMyPresidentsDay

From today’s #50501 rally in Washington, DC. The patriotism and earnestness were off the charts. And that’s not a bad thing. As a liberal who learned how to do much of her activism from anarchists though, let’s just say this wasn’t my usual milieu and I struggled a bit. (and that’s OK too)

✅ DEI Action of the Day™ Yesterday, the NAACP Black Consumer Advisory called for support of corporations standing firm on diversity, equity & inclusion (DEI). The NAACP encourages consumers to 'buy-in' on companies. Costco stands firm on DEI. Join Costco ($65/year): www.costco.com/join-costco....

Issa Rae said that she was canceling an upcoming appearance at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts because of an “infringement” on its values. Renée Fleming, Ben Folds and Shonda Rhimes all left posts there.

Really encouraging to know you only need 3.5% of the population to make effective change

I'm doing a small organization attempt in support the Presidents' Day protests It's a small sangha, but I feel better about doing *something* versus just watching and doing nothing

Ugh time for me to get a measles booster 🥴

We need to use #BSky to INSPIRE meaningful OFFLINE actions by common folks. President’s day could be the start of a #GeneralStrike. #Fascism and #Dictatorship are not what the #framers envisioned. We urgently need clear, loud, consistent messaging, effective #Leadership, and bold action by many.

I know there have been a fair number of conflicting dates, so, let's organize and settle on February 28th to start. Market Blackout. No buying. No major retailers. No Amazon. For one day, we grind consumerism to a halt. (And with a little planning, this shouldn't be hard.) Let's do it.

Some of you may have noticed I'm following you on two accounts - Don't be alarmed, I'm attempting to separate personal from professional interests

It's not feasible for the average American to boycott everything. But if you're interested, I made a list.

"And when it was finally time for Martin Luther King's well-dressed marchers to demonstrate for liberation, it was hard-drinking, knife-fighting, gun-toting, juke joint folks who made sure they were protected. Hood is love. Hood is life. Hood is liberation." If you're out of touch start here.

in 1992 the super bowl lost viewers at halftime to an episode of “in living color.” so the nfl got michael jackson for the 1993 show, who set a new standard with what’s still one of the most watched tv events ever. basically the super bowl halftime show as we know it exists because of black people

M'lord the peasants say you have given them the ick

On that note, I think it's time to split my earthseed and tech personas on here New bsky profile coming up?

Also, this is a good reminder that a job is not a career I often feel the golden handcuffs because I have a sweet gig at ${company}, which is becoming harder to get But, I should never lose sight that I can work anywhere if I want, and this is just ONE company of many

I much prefer it when things are spelled out and transparent then not So, yes
