Hot take, and please feel free to help me out if I'm full of shit here, but I think it's bizarre how much attention is being given to the Gulf of Mexico/America thing, given that "America" is the name of the entire continent.

Anyone else on here love making their space sooo cozy? 😀

As a companion to my last post, sound on for Sandhill Cranes calling nearby as they fly low across the water, invisible in the fog, with their cries reverberating through space and time, etc etc

We had a very full week/end, but one of the absolute highlights was waking up at my mom's house on the lake to the thickest and most enduring fog I've ever seen in my life. Of course we took out the canoe.

Must read. Musk has taken control of all of our money!

Watch your step, Florida hikers! With warmer weather, snakes are on the move. Look how handsome this juvenile Eastern Diamondback is! By the way, if you're into pics of Florida critters, I mostly post those over on Instagram. Find me @aquiferious!

I sure love a good barn dance! Thanks to the FLORA Conference for having me and the Varmint Family out to play!

I'm a nerd for this stuff, but I thought this was a *great* article. If you're into Florida native wetlands, too, give it a read! www.wuft.org/environment/...

I bought a CMYK ballpoint pen as something to bring to a figure drawing session I help run on Tuesdays β€” I've been needing a new challenge. In theory, with CMYK on white paper, I should be able to achieve a full visible color spectrum! This was a quick sketch from an old photo β€” proof of concept!

Low-key, this might be one of the prettiest knits I've ever started. I'm notoriously bad at finishing new projects (I pulled an abandoned project off my needles to start this one) so I'm posting here as a kind of hopeful accountability β€” I want to bring this double-knit hat into the world! 🧢

Photo update on Albie's new cat bed, which I sewed yesterday from vintage fabric bought at Repurpose Project! 🫘

Not feeling compelled to use this platform yet. I've been pretty geographically isolated from the vast majority of my existing social network, so rebuilding here with a bunch of folks I've felt barely connected to has felt weird. Anyway, I've been sewing a lot and it's cold, so I made Albie a bed!

While there's no end to home improvements, the downstairs bathroom renter-friendly renos are "finished." I used peel-and-stick vinyl to redo the shower! The main reason for this was to cover the kitschy tropical fish tiles (see last pics) 1/3

This is where all the boosters are πŸ„πŸ„πŸŒŸ

Yesterday triumph in bathroom DIY: If you momentarily ignore the miracle of science which is my cat shitting in the toilet, you'll notice that the toilet bowl itself is heavily iron-stained. After 2Β½ years of bleaching and scrubbing, I thought it'd just be that way forever. 1/2

The renter-friendly DIYs of my downstairs bathroom will continue until morale improves πŸ˜€πŸ΄β€β˜ οΈ That lil shelf wasn't there before! It's attached impermanently with the magic of leverage and a few bits of Alien Tape. Reclaimed materials sourced for about $5 from Repurpose Project πŸ’žπŸ’žπŸ’ž

Decided to sub for a math teacher at Lincoln Middle School today. My classroom is very old but in kind of a pretty way. 🍎

Hello from the media lab at Ft. Clarke Middle School β€” I'm doing my first day of substitute teaching! Actually, I'm working today as a paraprofessional, helping a student with physical disabilities get through his day. He is currently very happily playing video games with a friend during lunch πŸ•ΉοΈ

I haven't decided how or whether to "brand" my presence on BlueSky, so I'm going to toss different stuff out to see what sticks! This week's project is making a rag rug for my downstairs bathroom, because I don't like the bath mats that are available, and also I'm unemployed so why not. 1/? tbd 🩷

Introductory post! I'm Ang (pronounced like the first syllable of Angela). I am a painter and art educator, and a contra dance caller with 12+ years' experience. I'm a curator, the founder of Figure On Diversity, and a big museum nerd. I love music and teaching! Let's talk accessibility in art edu!

@fiddlehayden.bsky.social "sometimes painter and fiber artist" yeah RIGHT πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›

Maybe joining a new social media platform will make it seem like the world isn't burning for a minute or two? 🫠 Anyway, love all y'all who are popping over and reading this. Hopefully we'll be better connected as a result! 🩷
