I agree, at least if they're doing the bare minimum to add to the conversation. Internet abbreviations are fine, but if we're two grown adults and friends having a conversation, I don't want half-assed responses.

I debated that with my students yesterday and they love the idea of dying happy. I insisted on responsibility and loving new things, but people, you know?

In my case, it's related. When I feel self doubt I tend to write less to a point where I just stare at the screen, in general I'm less creative. So, I do feel it's connected. I haven't found one definite thing that helps, I usually just speak with my wife.
