I had this exact version of Hoyle's Card Games on a floppy disk. Played the hell out of it. Also partially how I learned cribbage. Which of course I've now forgotten how to play.

It was the intro to Rodomonte's Revenge by Gary Paulsen. Sadly I think the intro game goes unnamed. I'm amazed someone besides me remembers this book.
