The summary frames it as a positive "AI just as good as doctors, yay" but i read it as doctors arent doing a very good job and can be matched by something that doesnt have a clue what its writing... 🤔

Fun fact: in fruit flies with particular genetic variants, temperature change (from 19 to 30 °C) can cause rapid male on male homosexual behaviour & less receptivity to females (female behaviour not tested, obvs 🙄)

Fun fact: You may be wondering, how do male bedbugs know if someone has deposited the goods in a females abdomen already?
Well, their penis (equivalent) essentially "tastes" for others ejaculate inside the female, & deposits less if others have got in 1st

Fun fact: many animals see a lot more of the light spectrum than humans. This means they can give off mating signals we cant see, detect otherwise hidden prey, & get enticed by UV reflecting seeds/fruit (👇🏻bluethroats of the Arctic showing off a UV chest)

Fun fact: male bedbugs release more ejaculate when they mate with virgin bedbugs; this seems to be because female bedbugs have a lot of immune cells lurking where traumatic insemination occurs, and these cells gobble up the male's ejaculate

Fun fact: considering that (a) feeding & copulation = closely linked, & (b) copulation = physical trauma = infection risk, when feeding is predictable, female bedbugs upregulate their copulatory organ immune system in anticipation for traumatic insemination

Again we arent talking about the general population. Many do this under medical supervision, usually due to MCAS (food reactions), dysautonomia (poor digestion), and EDS (wrecked connective tissue). It is that tiny proportion of people i am talking about. And my PhD was nutrition

And to confirm, i am vegan for ethical and environmental reasons. I also think for most in the population evidence supports more plants/less meat is healthier. But my post was about a specific population where norms dont always apply
comment in response to

Jo's commentary has nailed it. Diet choices for non-health reasons are a separate issue unrelated to this post. I know several vegans who went back to eating meat because they literally couldnt digest plants any more, one had therapy because it was so traumatic going against their ethics

Superb post, Harriet. One of the things that really annoys me is the unseen cost of spending a little time enjoying yourself. For example, taking it very easy in the says before and being wiped out for a couple of days after something as mundane as an hours shopping.

No matter what you do, no matter how much energy you sink into being a perfect patient you simply cannot succeed. Because your peer group, your social group and your health care group are all going to disagree with each other, and they’re often going to do so with overt judgment and disapproval.

The problem is not just what does or does not work for you (or whether the effort to do that is sustainable), but also that whatever does work, however well you achieve it: 50-75% of people you encounter will be sure you’re doing the wrong thing, or doing the right thing the wrong way.
