Eliot Cohen also believes any criticism of Israel’s genocide is antisemitic, so I’m not sure his opinion should count for much

Sigh. This was the article that finally did it for me. Cancelled my subscription. A shame because there are writers at The Atlantic doing excellent work (Adam serwer, David graham, Anne applebaum) but i cannot keep supporting their centrist + Israel apologia

What a stupid fucking take. A military parade costing millions that Trump ordered on his birthday, but actually no it’s totally benevolent and wise.

Spare us the lecture. They’re getting what they voted for, and we’re under no obligation to feel bad for people who were willing to throw everyone else under the bus by voting Trump. In fact, I would think Savannah is relieved the admin is taking care of this illegal alien!

Incredible that survivors of the Holocaust now seek to trap a population in an internment camp (Israeli regularly bombs “humanitarian” zones) and the only reference to the imminent genocide and forced migration is a line about ethnic cleansing being a moral catastrophe. The world won’t forget.

This is rich coming from Flanagan, who regularly demonizes anyone who dares to criticize Israel as antisemites and thus helped create the conditions that would let society be okay with jailing critics of Israel.

It is incredible that conservatives still believe they have a right to make a case for anything. Like where is the self awareness? Has your movement not done enough to the rest of us??

Sorry, but too little too late from Biden. Instead of stepping down and allowing democrats to find a candidate that could beat Trump (like he promised he would when he said he’d be a transition president), he instead tried to cling to power despite his unpopular administration (however unfair it is)

At what point does it become clear to these people that some ideas are inferior? Telling someone that burning coal contributes to climate change, and that climate change poses serious threats to humanity, is not “pontificating to their moral inferiors”, it’s telling someone they’re objectively wrong

Not capitulating at every opportunity they get. Saying no to Trump nominees. Acting like we are in an actual crisis, because we are

You mean to tell me Republicans have no values other than Donald Trump, ensuring wealthy people don’t pay taxes, and blaming every societal issue on trans people? No 🤯

It is under Israeli control, illegally…they were to be transferred to Palestinian jurisdiction under the accords, but it is still occupied by Israeli settlers. The UN and the international community have repeatedly held that Israel’s settlements in the West Bank are illegal. Spare me

“But but but…norms! Republicans will surely return the favor and engage in good faith bipartisan legislation!” - Every establishment Democrat right now.

Hurling stones at a teenage settler illegally in your land is the same as lynching and abducting a Palestinian movie director. When considering the rules don’t apply to Israeli people ever, it makes perfect sense!

Ah yes, I love preserving American institutions by allowing Trump and Elon to usurp the powers of the Legislative branch without doing a thing to resist them. Truly, the Founding Fathers would be proud. I wonder when the Atlantic is going stop publishing this neoliberal apologia. Probably never.

You people are fucking cowards. Enjoy being remembered as the collaborationists. Awful, awful humans. Every single one of you.
