even if we throw these people out of power the enduring legacy of Trump is that nobody can ever again trust the US government to keep a promise, and that will come back to bite us over and over again what a shameful thing this is

In theory, I have always supported international aid. One thing that I can "thank" the Trump admin for is really teaching me about all the stuff the USA did that I didn't even realize. And man, the amount of stuff that tiny amount of the budget does is pretty amazing.

Pretty much the same amount Republicans promise to “save” in this budget is what the IRS could have collected from tax cheats and wealthy/sophisticated filers WITHOUT RAISING A SINGLE TAX. But instead somebody somewhere will lose out on healthcare. Stupid and cruel.

The problem with most machine-based random number generators is that they’re not TRULY random, so if you need genuine randomness it is sometimes necessary to link your code to an external random process like a physical noise source or the current rate of US tariffs on a given country.

As a social scientist, this makes me absolutely furious. You can't just cancel research you don't like because it makes you look bad or challenges your worldview. After hearing years of complaints about free speech on campus, this is extra galling.
