This basic Graphic Designer job for a Christian church (which pays what I was making in a similar role *20 YEARS AGO* in 2005, ugh) requires drug testing + no felonies or misdemeanors. And yet for our most critical leadership positions in the entire country, drugs and criminal convictions are okay??

I haven't tried this for myself yet, but I heard comments from a couple reporters saying they've discovered the Google algorithm being manipulated to create a false impression: searching for ICE arrests in each state gives a list/summary of articles. But most articles were actually from years ago.

Oh yes. Plenty of people who understand that being treated as a disposable body in a system that actively legislates against collective bargaining know that all of this is wrong & needs to change. But a great many don't know anything outside of their lived experience, so aren't speaking up.

Ugh. I haven't been on a plane since just before covid. But this year I do have need for air travel over the Labor Day holiday - one of the busiest travel weekends AND to/from Atlanta - and I'm seriously considering driving instead. I no longer trust our own domestic air transportation system. 😢

Many of us live in Republican super-majority states who have enacted "right to work" laws for years/decades. Where it IS perfectly legal to fire anyone, at any time, for no reason. After an entire generation or two has grown up with this as a part of life, maybe that's why the outrage isn't there.

The most painful couple hours of my life was the in-person interview w/ a federal security agent that was part of the screening process to get a Secret clearance for some work as a GRAPHIC DESIGNER w/ a DOD contractor. And these young men can just sail in, access & steal our most classified stuff??

I have been thinking about this every day for the past couple of weeks. 70+ years of the USSR/Russia trying to defeat the US, militarily & economically, via Cold War & 3rd party conflicts. Tanks, nukes, spy craft and espionage. Trillions of dollars spent. Turns out all they needed were Trump & Musk.

My city (Jacksonville, FL) had a role in the history of early cinema, briefly the "Winter Film Capitol of the World" and the home of Norman Studios! It was among the nation’s first to produce “race films” starring African American characters in positive, non-stereotypical roles in the early 1920s. ❤️

Concerning detail from today: there's been a lot of F-18s flying around overhead this past week, although NAS Jax's squadrons are P-8s, MH-60s and the new Triton drone fleet. And the old WWII guard post behind the Birmingham Gate had a heavily armed soldier in it...not even after 9/11 was it manned.

THIS is how to make our feelings on the subject crystal clear to Google, and their executives. One-star ratings, BUT they need to include a review explaining the WHY. Although I wouldn't put it past them from deleting the Maps rating function.
