Also in the Middle East because Islam forbids spaying/neutering animals.😳

C'est quoi cette sorte de barrière? C'est pour pêcher (langoustes)?

Certainly his u-turn on the winter fuel allowance showed rebels they had a chance if they stood up to him. I'm glad they pushed him on disability, but ambivalent about WFA. Retirees represent the wealthiest segment of society overall, whereas half of disabled people on or below the poverty line.

Sorry, that sentence sounded like the bird was walking through a meadow! 😆

No.

Mostly forest, but I saw the bobolink walking through a meadow.

Bobolinks have a very cool, bouncy flight song. They have such character! My magical first sighting was in the Blue Hills Reservation near Boston.

People want calamity. They consciously chose it. It fulfills the doom predictions of their religion.

What's the full expression?

I love it! There's something beautiful about it too. I picked up the phrase "gospedi bozhe!" (Dear Lord🙄!) Russian speakers seem to find it hilarious hearing me say it because it makes me sound like a weary babushka.

Yes, French is very sweary. Russian curses are the foulest, though.

YES! (I reply shouting because I'm deaf from leaf blowers.) They're totally unnecessary; they only exist as tools of sadistic machismo.

Yes, "Drax" is a perfect example of nominative determinism, isn't it? 😆 They might as well have named themselves Dregs or Dragonspew or Dracul the Dreaded Impaler of Old Growth Trees... 🧛‍♂️🔪🌳 - Muahahahaha!

Figures. They turned a boreal paradise into a barren hellscape.

2/2 Cuts to social care helped Covid spread. The UK soared to the top of the list of countries w/the highest death tolls. Billionaire income doubled during the pandemic & public debt soared. Yet the government is again gambling w/lives by removing support from the vulnerable while sparing the 1%.

More context, please.

Most of them don't pay anywhere near that much. There are years in which Bezos and Musk paid zero. If you can afford an army of tax lawyers plus millions to pay for elections and create loopholes, you'll never have to pay your share.

Depends what type of trees they're felling.

Maybe you feel alone because there's no discernible wildlife. 🫤

Goodness 😳. Not sure wood is that much better, either.

God, yes. What a sleaze. 😒 Defeating his candidacy also shows the Dems aren't desperate or pathetic. We can still make effective choices even in a political landscape slanted towards has-beens.

I tried two different passwords and the BBC said they'd locked me out of my account. Mean!
comment in response to post
Apparently you have to have an account to listen to BBC Sounds. I tried their option of link via email but that didn't work. I'm sure I had an account with them at some point. I just have to remember the password...

Unfortunately you have to have a password to access the audio.

I don't condone what Trump did but Iran isn't going to fight back in any substantive way. They know they couldn't possibly win a conflict that pits them against the U.S. and Israel. Once again, Trump makes a mess and emerges smelling like a (plastic, clown-style🌺🤡) rose.

Don't we write it as "rooves" anymore?

Unless you're 120 years old, your childhood memories of heatwaves and the occasional snowless winter occurred while anthropogenic climate change was already underway. Comparing now to then is comparing apples to apples.

Well, if Iran wasn't intending to develop nukes, it sure as heck going to now after the U.S. bombing raid. This is Trump creating another self fulfilling prophecy. Like how he struck a deal with the Taliban that guaranteed failure in the withdrawal from Afghanistan.
