While these are important gestures, in the light of the last few weeks I hope the EU can do more than just gestures. That it can reject any notion of peace talks that do not include Ukraine and strongly and unequivocally oppose any "solution" that goes against its government.

"Tariffs are my fourth favourite word" Yes, we noticed. www.bbc.com/news/live/c5...

This is a good question. While some companies might attempt to increase local production for American market (to avoid tariffs) it should not be mistaken for confidence in the current direction of US trade policy

Tariffs are a blunt force tool. In the few instances of a positive outcome, tariffs are rarely sufficient for the job. Trump needs to beg Nippon Steel to come back if he wishes to accelerate modernization of the industry and really save American jobs.

You might think that EU carmakers relocating or at least increasing production in the US is good news for the US and that's exactly what the tariffs were meant to achieve. But as always it's not that simple

When the general public understand tariffs and trade better than the current administration

Free speech and all that...

Make this @OfficialUoM press release viral “Trump … echoed Kremlin talking points, by falsely claiming …Zelensky’s approval rating stands at a mere 4%…polling…puts his approval rating at 63% - making him the most popular politician in the country.” www.manchester.ac.uk/about/news/t...

I guess now at least we're all clear as to where the threat to democracy that Vance was talking about is coming from

It feels like a moment that future generations will read about in history books and shake their heads in disbelief.

This is the Dutch non-paper that's been around for months. The B2B2C proposal. It's gaining some traction now.

Two good articles on the US-EU relationship, Ukraine and possible peace talks. /1 www.ft.com/content/11f1...

The "reciprocal" part was always unlikely. But the Memorandum published last week made it clear there will be nothing reciprocal about them. /1

Additional costs (27% rise in import fees) for UK importers. A prime example of how Brexit costs are passed to UK importers who cannot absorb them and will be forced to pass them onto consumers. www.fpcfreshtalkdaily.co.uk/post/jenney-...

Preparing for another week of reciprocal tariffs, unfair taxes, bridges and all that other nonsense. Most of all, trying to stop freaking out about Trump's comments on Ukraine and Russia. It's not working.

Sorry UK, I'm all for deeper UK-EU security cooperation at this moment, but forget about this bridge illusion. The EU will speak for itself. And you cannot pretend to speak 'for Europe' and at the same meeting call for tariff carve outs playing on being 'not Europe'. From: on.ft.com/4gLuvnQ

I'm sorry, what makes the UK think that we CAN be a bridge?

Remember the removal of e-commerce de minimis on Chinese parcels? The Executive Order had to be amended cause there were no systems in place to collect the data needed for the formal entry and checking and applying tariffs on these parcels. Well, guess what? /1 theloadstar.com/cbp-wont-be-...

The irony of this administration lecturing anyone on free speech, authoritarianism, misinformation etc. And in light of comments on Russia However, there were some important questions that we as Europeans need to reflect on. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ivhe...

Always surprising how the UK sees itself vs as it's perceived externally. Don't think anyone outside the UK would mention the "UK's traditional role".

I'm sure they are not the least bit worried since Trump said yesterday the new tariffs...
