We live in the Ottawa Valley (about 20 minutes outside of Pembroke). Do you think this solution would work in our area/climate? We've had a rough time with our existing lawn. (To make a long story short: it was us vs. the grubs in 2023 and they won.)

Loved this conversation. I’ll be thinking about it for a very long time.

I’m sorry you’re still having such a rough time. How frustrating and exhausting.

Fortunately the trees that fell down didn’t take out a lot of other healthy trees. We had a forest management company come through last year to identify and take down some other trees that might have come down and done a lot of damage. Good thing we decided to do that.

Also when you look at the data on lost learning they always hand wave the school districts that barely closed and the loss that happened there. Where and how kids fell behind isn't as neatly correlated with school closures as they like because COVID WAS A MASS TRAUMA EVENT

Assuming you make the decision to go, I hope you’re able to be seen and to get some relief quickly.

“Timid policies that unfold incrementally over decades are of no use to children who will be grown up before we finally get around to taking action.” 👏

We heat with a wood boiler so we've just been adding the wood from any fallen trees to the woodshed.

It is a truly disgusting display, day after day.

I wish I had a time machine that could show me what the future holds for this particular person. I want to know if she ever grows enough as a human to be able to look back on this chapter of her life with shame.

Amazing! I’ve been thinking of you all day. Happy all your hard work paid off.

Big hugs, Ashleigh. Thanks for managing to make it to the polls on an already hard and stressful day. May that effort be rewarded with a non-terrible result in a couple of hours.💗

I think we have the same kind of brain! 🧠

I have recurrent dreams of (a) having to live in residence at university and (b) being assigned a room that doesn’t actually exist. I’m constantly walking from floor to floor, trying to find my room. So weird.

I received a bunch of comments on a recent post that might have been from legit people or might have been from bad actors and/or bots so, instead of liking the comments, I just ignored them. Feels weird to do that. (I like liking things!)

Lovely! Thanks for sharing that with me.

I have three loaves of bread in the oven. Once they are finished baking, I am heading outside to read and then go for a walk. We have a simple meal planned for dinner — egg salad sandwiches plus a green salad — so I am planning to relax and enjoy the sunshine.
