A must-read, jumping to the top of the pile. www.theguardian.com/books/2025/f...

Now seems like a good time to share this series I made about how writers construct 'truth'. I look at memoir, novels and autofiction and talk to a host of incredible people including Olivia Laing, @sathnam.bsky.social and @jennashworth.bsky.social www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m...

I rarely post photos of oystercatchers because they are seen along all the island’s shores. But they are SO striking. A charismatic species with their piercing calls. Isle of Bute.

My favourite was having dinner with a bunch of Oxford ornithologists. "Braveheart was RUINED for me about halfway through. Everyone knows black-headed gulls didn't nest inland in Scotland until the 1950s"

I will never tired of photographs of people walking around carrying bird hides on their head. From the book, In de ban van vogels (a history of Dutch ornithology), by Karel Voous.

I can't imagine there's anyone following me who doesn't know about this, but if one of your NY resolutions is to write a bit more, I made a free 100 Day Writing Challenge course you can do via podcast. It asks for 10 mins writing a day, timer in each episode. soundcloud.com/timclare/set...

For Monday: three oystercatchers on a breezy day! 🙂 Isle of Bute.

The article 👇 incl. drone footage of 200 large dinosaur footprints walking across Oxfordshire, making trackways up to 150m long. They're from 2 types of dinosaur: (herbivorous) cetiosaurus & (carnivorous) megalosaurus. And the excavation's still incomplete... www.theguardian.com/science/2025...

I'm probably not going to read any more books before the end of the year, so let's look back at 2024 in books. I read a lot, there were a lot of books I liked, but it turns out that the more you read, the more you wonder about the books you didn't get to. wrongquestions.blogspot.com/2024/12/2024...

A few moments from 2024. Wishing you a nature-filled 2025!

My favourite reads of 2024 - mostly as ebooks but some gorgeous hard copies. 📚📚📚❤️ annecharnock.com/books/my-bes...

Lovelies, here's day 1 of the 2024 Tea and Sanctuary advent calendar. Please excuse the state of my voice! It's the perfect length for a nice cup of tea (or any beverage of your choice). Cosy, low stakes and hopefully soothing. Any boosts greatly appreciated! teaandsanctuary.com/e/day-1-tea-...
