I am not going to tell anyone not to pay their taxes. It would be funny, though, if everyone filed paper returns and submitted paper checks.

I have found the text for my next garden flag.

This is a great idea. I won't buy ANYTHING on Feb. 28. Anyone else in? 👇

I've seen a few people mention (one to me) others before and now today that libraries are advocating free stuff/not sales for the author. Libraries don't acquire books by magic. They buy copies with money. It can be hundreds/thousands of sales. People pay taxes to use the library. Nothing is free.

"There are no kings in America. Only gilded men we can topple again and again."

Same for elders who are aging in place, not for the faint of heart. And neither are midwestern winters, which might encourage some to use telehealth. Hypothesis: someone has a spreadsheet that shows the "savings" created when we stop treating the disabled/elderly people.

For many older Americans who live in assisted living or memory care facilities -- like my father -- telehealth is essential. The outcomes will be that many older adults will simply not seek or receive medical care. They really want to kill us all. Call your reps. (202) 224-3121

Whipped this website up the other weekend for an old friend in the run up to the release of her luscious cookbook 🦩 HOT DATE! Sweet and Savory Recipes Celebrating the Date, From Party Food to Everyday Feasts 🦩 Very excited to pick up my copy from my local bookstore later this week.

The Trump administration's Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, canceled a $275,000 contract for 9/11-related cancer research. www.cbsnews.com/newyork/news...

My ancestors fought & died in the American Revolution for this.

Putting a face to what you read in the news. Until last Friday, I served our nation working as a Research Ecologist with the US Geological Survey (USGS). As a federal scientist, I provided robust, defensible information to support good decisions in natural resource management.

I've read most of the analyses of the DOGE 2025 "receipts" site. This, from NPR, is the best I've read so far. Some of what they claim to have cut haven't been cut, other "cuts" will incur costs down the road. NPR says DOGE has made $2B of cuts, not $55B. www.npr.org/2025/02/19/n...

This is just to say I have fired the bureaucrats throughout your government Even the ones that were probably keeping planes in the air Forgive me I am not very smart So efficiency Much savings

They must be very bad at math because

Gonna post this daily from now on: Nah, this is exactly what you voted for.

It has come to my attention (via @indivisiblechicago.bsky.social ) that @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social will be in the area for a....book tour? What the heck www.fineartsbuilding.com/events/hakee...

Th3se are our freaking "assets," bought and paid for by US taxpayers. This seems like a good reason to pick up the phone again. (I'll also, if all goes well, be at my rep's office tomorrow with @indivisiblechicago.bsky.social.)

But I'll bet the dude knows how to code

Wait, is this suggesting that private individuals who want to adopt should be given a list of currently pregnant women? Who have not consented to having their information shared?

This article leaves out another solution: changes to SEC and Labor Dept rules to allow more retail/retirement money to pour into private companies. www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

There’s an intense battle in NY over Proposal 1, which would enshrine abortion rights in our state constitution. And now a bunch of Trump donors have poured $8M last minute into the NO campaign. It’s critical that you and everyone you know in NY turn over your ballot and vote YES on Prop 1.

It is "President's Day" so I'd love to encourage you to read this short Nat'l Parks Service biography of Mary McLeod Bethune (1875-1955) whose lifetime work included education, civil rights activism, equality for women's, & her work in FDR's administration & New Deal. www.nps.gov/people/mary-...

The contempt is

Trump Makes Policies. People suffer

I won't buy where you can't work.

This is horseshit. If you fear protests will lead to martial law then you already live under martial law — and you’re the one who declared it. Plus, it *won’t* lead to a declaration of martial law and the fear misconstrues the nature of the threats we face.

Remember, tech startups are usually very small numbers of people. Working with the federal government is a completely different scale, and as the engineers always used to tell me, an order of magnitude changes everything

Maybe Elon will get him an executive coach.

Well of course I'm sorry, Dmitri

The measles outbreak in Texas is reminding me of the public letter Roald Dahl wrote about losing his daughter to measles in 1962, just before the vaccine was publicly available.
