I checked the ethnic breakdown of her constituency. There’s only .1 or 1% are Muslim and of course that includes men so she can easily make the boast because the likelihood of her ever actually even meeting a Muslim in her surgery never mind a one in a burka is vanishing small. Still a vile racist.

.1% of her constituency on Muslims. She’s full of shit on this as she is on everything else
comment in response to
post
Just for interest, I checked the number of Muslims in her constituency and it’s 0.1% so I think she can probably make those kind of comments knowing that she’s never going to have to back them up. Vile woman.

But they didn’t stand out every seat in the Scottish elections in 2021 did they?
comment in response to
post
Well, I’m an idiot. I thought, and I live in France so I just looked at the results, that the Scottish elections were next year. I completely forgot that there would’ve been some Scottish MP who stood in the UK Parliament. Thank you for telling me.

UKIP isn t Reform.

Do you know how much it would have cost the country? The state would have to take over 15.5 billion pounds debt. It’s not a simple as you want to believe unfortunately.

That’s just bollocks.

Except that when he said that the UK government needed to be in jail, the hyperbole was off the scale. I think most of these Israeli government needs to go to jail, but whilst I don’t think the UK government has been emphatic enough, they don’t deserve prison, and we need to differentiate.

He has, and I find it very frustrating that as much as I admire his coverage of Gaza, and Palestine over the last 15 years, his attitude to lab is hysterical and hyperbolic. It doesn’t wipe out what he does for Palestine, but it does make me respect him less.
comment in response to
post
Sadly, because I agree with Owen completely in his stance on Gaza, his attitude towards the lab government is completely disproportionate. The people who need to be in jail, are the people in the Israeli government who have committed genocide. The UK govt has been slow to act but prison? No
comment in response to

To be fair, I despise his take on UK politics, but I massively respect his consistently informative reporting of the horror is Gaza.

Reform has never stood in Scotland before, so that the fact that they have done and that they didn’t win, really isn’t that newsworthy. Or least it shouldn’t be if we didn’t have biased press.

Isn’t that particular constituency quite unusual because it has a lot in common with the DUP in Northern Ireland? Though in that case, I don’t understand why they voted SNP previously.
comment in response to
post
I think they already know it about the Tories, and I’m pretty confident that they’re not gonna fall for Farage.
comment in response to

I don’t care how much he smiles, if he supports reform s policies, such as they are, he’s a tosser.

I don’t think not having ID cards has in anyway protected the vulnerable from being targeted.

Look from another angle Ian. The police might still pick people who look “foreign/ Muslim/ brown/black” but this way they would be able to prove that they have every right to be in the country and that the police can just go fuck themselves.

I live in France and I’ve had my ID checked. It was completely un confrontational.
comment in response to

I think that that is a comment based on an instinctive dislike of ID cards, which of course is your right. I’ve lived in France for 13 years and I use my ID card to collect parcels or guarantee legal transactions in the way that the British wouldneed both a CC and a passport for the same thing.
comment in response to

Yes, but even so this was previously an SNP seat.
comment in response to

And yet previously, they had voted SNP?

I don’t know why that made me laugh so much. I think it’s because I’m a retired teacher..that was pretty much the level of 12-year-olds’ arguments.

She actually makes lab look good at comms which I would’ve thought was impossible.

This wasn’t delightful little series of exchanges. Your initial comment comment made me chuckle and all the replies were just great thanks Jonn.

I know you probably put a lot of work into that but I think we need to stop predicting things because it just bigs up Reform who even by this afternoon were imploding. Too soon to predict anything rationally.

It didn’t have to be such a poison chalice though did it? She really has taken the Challenge and run with it.

There was no reason for them to smash it. It wasn’t expected that they would. Chris Mason is not good enough enough at his job.

Poorly written inaccurate piece. Whilst Starmer is not popular, in the last poll, he was still “best choice for PM and beat Farage. “Also, Lab has just won a by election. I think it’s the author who is petulant and blatantly anti - Starmer to the point where he can’t write a balanced article
comment in response to

What an odd comment. It’s social media so we are discussing things. I suspect your comment means more that you are anti-Starmer more than anything else.

I don’t want to excuse it because it’s an excusable, but I believe that the Israeli media simply self censored, so Israel haven’t seen months and months of footage of dead babies. In the newspapers, they don’t believe it’s happening.

That’s a lot of hair for such a little person! How old is she?

Yes, I found out about five minutes later but thank you for confirming. She really is grotesque. I rather liked KS dismissing her as “oh yes, you was probably still in the conservative party then”.

Who is that? Great expression by the way, which I shall be stealing.

If she was a kind of person who could take advice, she wouldn’t be giving this kind of performance. It’s incompetent but more than that it’s arrogant.
