That’s what I love about academia. Smart people working together to solve problems that are pressing and helpful to society. It’s the ideal place for people to change the world. Combining R1 research with Undergrads isn’t terrible. Helps people like me to talk to some really smart people

This thread is extremely raw and hits core to the heart. “The Greats come up together”. Being adversarial isn’t productive and it doesn’t help us move forward. So, as mentioned, write a better paper. Don’t “take-down” the old paper…

I couldn’t agree more. I feel as if I’ve unlocked the worlds knowledge when I learn something from 3b1b, Karpathy, FreeCodeCamp, StatQuest or CS229/231n as compared to randomly watching videos of Trump slashing funding everywhere

Research is very mentor based. You’re blessed to find great mentors early on who nurture you and guide you…. There will always be What-Ifs but then again, there’s a reason they’re What-Ifs and not What-Is….
