Certainly a key factor to consider. Again, I think Kesselring provides aspects to their blueline they need, so perhaps they’re making the best of a less than optimal situation.

Some time to ruminate on it: it’s definitely a win for Utah, but if goal was roster piece necessity, Kesselring is an important upgrade to the Sabres’ blue line from a rock solid/toughness archetype. Doan could feature in a higher role. It’s just less than I thought they’d get.

At pick 6: Hagens is close to a best case scenario, but definitely possible he’s there. I just feel it’s “Michkov level” bit of luck if he is. That said, I think some size to go with skill should be a priority in the first round. This is also a trade-free mock. I expect we’ll see action there.

If the Flyers received a very useful player for their current roster & say move back a couple spots or more, I’m more on board with a Martin selection. But if top end talent like Hagens, Porter Martone, & Jake O’Brien at there at pick 6, that’s the direction you go.

I think Martin is a solid “back end of top 10, high teens territory” pick. He’s got that “nasty, playoff ready, keep you in the fight” makeup. A Mike Richards type. But edge of the top 5 is a little too high for that kind of player.

Couturier, Zegras, Cates, Abols main competition for Luchanko for the moment.

Got the article in ;)

Take for what it is: the Flyers refer to Zegras as a center in their press release, so I expect that will be his role at the start. This trade possibly opens the door for Jett Luchanko to earn a roster spot, pending what the Flyers do on/after July 1st, the start of NHL Free Agency.

Too late. Family will murder me. Catch up with it later.

It is what it is, Kelly. :)

Mind you: This doesn’t mean I’m against a Martone or O’Brien pick. I like both players & see their merits. This is just my educated guess.
