Some of my research is in journals within one of these databases that are now seemingly banned. Only fascists ban reading.

It's here. Pit in stomach feeling. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

This exciting resolution from Rutgers University Senate is exactly the kind of model I think higher ed needs: a mutual defense pact of, in this case, Big 10 schools. They call for member institutions to create a joint defense fund and make resources available to any member institution under attack.

Rough day for the it’s-not-a-constitutional-crisis-until-he-defies-a-court-order crowd.

An entire analysis piece rooted in the (unacknowledged) logic of domestic abuse. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/24/w...

BREAKING: Mexican President Sheinbaum argues that if cartels are deemed terrorist orgs, then the suppliers of weapons—over 74% of which come FROM the U.S.—should ALSO face accountability for enabling terrorism. As a result, Mexico is expanding its lawsuit targeting U.S gun manufacturers. 🇲🇽

I think if people are throwing Nazi salutes around at the official gathering of American conservatives, then it’s perfectly fine to call American conservatives Nazis.

There are many mysteries and ambiguities in life but the nature of this gesture is not among them. It's a Nazi salute.

Just randomly posting this painting

I gotta admit, seeing this level of open corruption goes a long way towards explaining why the Imperial stormtroopers' gear in Star Wars turned out to be completely useless the first time some stone-age teddy bears started throwing hands.

Time for journalists to catch ourselves when we use the term “dubious.” As in “dubious legal authority.” Our job is to find out, and if it’s illegal, call it that.

America offshoring its blacksites was a precursor to offshoring its camps to other nations in return for cash. Fascist globalism is something many people didn’t even consider.

I did a piece about the political economy of climate breakdown for @londonreview.bsky.social, pivoting off the essential new book by Andreas Malm and @wimcarton.bsky.social. Please give it a read!

Those high emissions billionaire space hotel trips scheduled for 2026 might not materialise on schedule.

Here is a statement by my colleague Katherine Franke about the end of her time teaching at Columbia. Please read it. drive.google.com/file/d/1i4cO...

Today is *not* a “peaceful transfer of power.” It’s the completion of a violent coup attempt that began this morning four years ago. Yes, Trump won the ‘24 election; but he was only able to run because we failed to fully confront the fact of that violent coup attempt.

"If we believe Trump and his Republican party have a mandate, then they will act as though they do," James M. Thomas writes. "Instead, our collective task now and for the foreseeable future is to instruct them by any and all means of the limits to their power."

Just finished reading this great ethnography by Maron Greenleaf on REDD+, green capitalism, and distributive politics in Acre, Brazil. Would recommend for upper-level undergrad environmental anthropology and political ecology courses. #politicalecology #anthropology #ethnography #Brazil #REDD+
