The hard work behind the film is evident, its powerful stuff. Thank you for making it! We are all connected through sediment, and highlights the complexity of the challenges we are faced with today! Drinking water shouldn’t be “toxic waste”, that much is clear.

Update! ⛱️
The beach is being artificially replenished! While natural processes will help restore it over time, this intervention gives it a much-needed boost.
A reminder that beaches are dynamic landscapes, constantly shaped by both nature and human action. 🌊🏖️

#Engineering will encourage the sand to return, such as the Tweed Heads Sand Bypass System, which helps counteract the impact of groynes preventing natural sand movement along the NSW-QLD coast!

Sediment is always in motion. The sand hasn’t disappeared, it’s just moved to sandbars offshore. Over time, waves and currents will naturally replenish the #beaches, restoring the #coastline.
🌊 This process is normal, but because we are used to the crisp lines on #maps, it can feel unsettling.

Wow, thank you! And thank you for looking this up. It’s amazing to think about how mineral and metal resources have been valued and distributed through time 🪙💰

From pollution to infrastructure, from river deltas to demolition waste, sediment records our impact on the planet. That’s why we need broader discussions, bigger collaborations, and new ways of thinking.

Sediment isn’t just rock, soil, or sand—it’s what we wear, what you are reading this on, and the materials that shape our landscapes, cities, and historical records. But today, it doesn’t just move according to physics; it moves because of everything we do.
