from Plato to Hegel to modern Christian fascism, those who defend tyranny and totalitarianism are always wrong. At the AFHT we promote a free and open society.

How can we save science? I’m an NIH funded scientist. And I don’t know how to be louder about how not is this not only my job, BUT the NIH is also driving so much of the US economy??

This is a really good one. Every NIH dollar converts to about $3 in local economics. I don’t think people (non-nerds) appreciate this. The other thing is that there are a lot of scientists who are choosing to stay quiet for fear of being targeted. Things are bad and ppl don’t care IMO

🧵I recommend Umberto Eco's full speech on [Ur-] or [Eternal Fascism] from 1995 here, since the list above is an excerpt. (It helps when ticking boxes) It's a skilled semiotician's and historian's narration since Eco experienced fascism first hand starting at a very young age.

🧵The historian, writer and semiotician Umberto Eco (1932-2016) grew up during Mussolini's fascism. On April 25. 1995, the 50th liberation day of Italy, he held a lecture on fascism at Columbia University, NYC. This is an excerpt from 2017 in EN.
