I love certain cheap plastic fountain pens, but only if they're refillable. Disposable ones? Absolutely not. While smooth writing is enjoyable, the fountain pen experience, to me, is about so much more than just that.

For anyone curious regards Schrödinger's Cat nib compatibility – pens accepting Bock nib units seem to be the way to go. I've installed mine in a Majohn P136, and it functions very well (you'll probably want to use a special wrench to remove the original nib unit). The Cat nib writes really nicely!

A small addition to the affordable fountain pen discussion: these Pelikan babies 🐣 I've experienced the lovely smooth and beautiful nib of an M1000 pen, and while I'd never compare it to these, it's funny to have a Pelikan with its logo on nib for just six euros. And they’re nice writers actually.

The fountain pen feed, which shows every post mentioning fountain pens, is both simple and brilliant. It's convenient and, what I appreciate most, inclusive. Yes, you'll sometimes see unrelated stuff, but you can also always mute some of those accounts for yourself.
