LOL, okay.

It's also SOMEWHAT of a two-way street. If one candidate makes no secret of the fact that they want to make every aspect of life exponentially worse for everyone, and possibly end democracy as we know it, I feel like we all have a basic obligation to elect the candidate who sucks, but a lot less.

Obviously everyone who voted that way should lose their seat the next time they're up for election.

I don't know why you keep bringing up the Harris campaign when as far as I was aware, we were talking about liberal and Democrat VOTERS and what motivates them.
If the subject is the campaign, I completely agree that it was terrible.

Yeah, and I don't know about the trans people YOU know, but every single trans person *I* know is existentially terrified for their very lives that the Democrats, flaws and all, are about to scene power to Trump.

Obviously it didn't. But as far as I was aware, we were discussing Dem VOTERS, not the elected officials.

I don't know, when it comes to average Democrat VOTERS (ie; not elected officials), this whole "we're 100% ok with whatever" characterization just doesn't reflect what I tend to observe re: what they actually believe and are motivated by.

At the very least, we have to be honest about the fact that if starving the Dema of votes is the path we're choosing to force positive change, a best-case-scenario would still involve things getting A LOT worse for a LONG TIME before they get better.

But... IF Trump actually is going to be worse, then that has to factor into the moral calculus, right?

So I'm not sure that jibes with your characterization of liberals as being totally, completely cool with those things.

I mean, I'd argue that all the things you're bringing up are what explains why so many Democrats stayed home on election night this year.....

I guess then, what is the likelihood that their political activities is just based on "party loyalty", versus them just being easily convinced of things by people they usually agree with?
Like, could their "party loyalty" be a PRODUCT OF certain core beliefs?, rather than an absence of them?

On the contrary: that means it CAN end, and that you likely have a sense of what that'll take.

And also..... yeah, Elon and Tesla were considered net positives for the world, UNTIL he came out as a right-wing psychopath very recently.
He was considered good, until he wasn't. What's the issue with that?

My take: Kamala vs. Trump was a complicated ethical dilemma. But ultimately, at the end of the day, the argument for voting for Kamala was stronger than the argument for staying home or voting 3rd party. A lot of the worst crimes we're about to see unfold would not happen if Kamala had won.

Twitter, minus the Nazis.
So in other words, nothing at all like Twitter.

At this point I don't even think it makes any difference whether or not the word "rigged" technically applies, because it's so PROFOUNDLY un-democratic..
comment in response to

"Rigged" seems premature... but what clearly did happen is that a far-right bllionaire bought an entire social media app out from under its user base, converted it into a 24-hour propaganda platform for one candidate, then that candidate installed him in the government after winning.

Are there any like, codes of conduct on this app?
Like, if thousands of MAGA turds decided to swarm here and turn it into a Russian disinformation factory like Twitter currently is, would there be anything stopping them?

I have exactly zero problem with the idea of the coasts being allowed to progress as modern developed civilizations, while the West Virginias, Kentuckys, et al have their standard of living reduced to third-world nation levels.
