President Trump signed an executive order temporarily freezing the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program late last month. The U.S. State Department also froze funding to groups that help refugees with housing and job placement.

What “brings down wages for workers” is the false competition that nation-states create by putting us in different (and hierarchical) state categories of citizenship and immigration. What works for workers is solidarity across these dividing lines. Hence: anti-migrant politics to keep us all down.

Every time I see this man I'm going to remind everyone who will listen that his career started under Obama where he was ICE's head of deportations & innovated a policy of separating children from parents as a migration deterrent. Obama gave him a Presidential Rank Award for Distinguished Executives.

One thing I learned researching my book is that China's climate legislation requires there to be climate-change courses in secondary and undergraduate education. It also institutes and funds departments of climate change and "ecological civilization" studies in all Chinese universities.
