Wondering what's next for the console market? Waiting to learn the release date of that game you've had your eye on? Rather than watch videos from people that know as much as you do about it, why not do some self care! Go get those vaccinations and immunizations you've been putting off - today!

Capitulating to abusive demands doesn’t make the abuser back down—it emboldens them to go further. Apparently this is something that a lot of media executives, politicians, and political strategists don’t realize

One thing that regularly shocks me about the video game industry is hearing how much time and money is wasted because executives are unwilling or unable to make a decision and communicate it clearly. Anyway, don't miss my feature about the turmoil at Warner Games: www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

TikTok, pulled offline because of a ban instigated by Donald Trump but subsequently owned by the Democrats, now portrays Trump as its potential savior. The Democrats can’t stop losing to this guy.

Wow - the TikTok ban has also affected the popular digital card game Marvel Snap (published by Bytedance-owned Nuverse), which is now also unavailable to players

I'm excited for Switch 2 but some people really have to chill. Nintendo will have an intricate timeline worked out for marketing it and they're not going to upend that very complex global strategy over some leaked pictures of hardware. They will reveal it in their own time as they always do.

people who lived through the prep work for Y2K are always rightfully defensive about that period of time in computing. NPR should have said “Y2K didn't live up to the hype *BECAUSE* years and billions of dollars were spent on painstaking preparation” and avoided some of the backlash here 😬

There's are far too many constantly online individuals who have a hard time grasping that the next decade of video games is going to be decided by software & services, not hardware. You know, like every other major software industry on the planet.

Half the universe has been snapped out of existence, tell stories with the remaining heroes and villains dealing with this new reality Hawkeye dealt with the loss by becoming Ronin and becoming a vigilante 5 years is a long time to be glossed over in Endgame and not revisited

Bluesky’s growth is the best thing to come out of 2024 Thank you all for being a part of my continued journey in this space🙏💙

here's a thought: create your own post and critique until your heart's content my point was and is don't be so selfish that you have to jump into post after post and in bad faith purposely ruin excitement because you don't agree no one is asking for your opinion

Using video games as the butt of jokes has always rubbed me off the wrong way. Nobody ever sets out to make a failed product. There were real, passionate people behind Concord.

Last night was truly unforgettable as I had the honor of receiving the inaugural "TGA Game Changer" award at The Game Awards. My heartfelt thanks to Geoff Keighley for his friendship and steadfast support. I accepted this recognition on behalf of every member of Amir Satvat's Games Community.

I'm a giant nerd, so I love The Game Awards. I see all the criticisms, and I usually agree with them. But it's the biggest celebration (10x bigger than the Oscars) of my favorite hobby. It makes me happy to see games get recognized, listen to the orchestra, and see new announcements!

If you have to put down one video game in order to praise another you're doing it wrong.

Me: I will just relax for a few minutes by playing a mindless game on my phone Phone: Cool, every 90 seconds you will just need to watch a little animated snuff film featuring a mother and child freezing to death, or a king slowly being crushed against a spiky wall by piles of falling rubble

Nearly 3 of every 4 Americans play video games. There seems to have been a drop in some of the ridiculous stereotypes some have about video games, but a bunch persist, especially when doing so fits a sus-pect agenda.

LOVE the accolades graphic. Nice addition.

The longer an ecosystem, or platform exists, it WILL trend to this type of engagement curve. The biggest "engagers" at the top will continue to gather mass, while the other titles battle it out over the lower 20%.

I can't stress enough that #MarvelRivals is successful (today) because it's the epitome of giving the market what it wants. It's a painfully obvious product, similar to the new Pokemon mobile game.

Again, saying this is all based on COVID over-hiring is just incorrect at this point. The industry is running into what most industries run into when they suddenly hit a wall of maturity: too many products, and too few buyers. Games are not immune to market economics.

Layden - "I would like to see a world where you can get back to 18 to 23 hours of gameplay" So, yeah. Uh, it doesn't matter if a new game is 10 hours or 100 hours if no one cares because they're just dumping all their time into Fortnite, Minecraft, Call of Duty, Roblox and Grand Theft Auto.

Layoffs are depressing. I've been through it. Considering that, the one thing I've said about Ubisoft for the past seven years is this: They employ far too many people for the revenue they bring in. Their cost base eats through everything, and I was saying that through their best years.

The deep goal of bluesky is to decentralize the social internet so that every individual controls their experience of it rather than having it be controlled by 5 random billionaires. Everyone thinks they signed up for a demuskified twitter...we actually signed an exciting and bizarre experiment.

Much love to The New Day, that segment was excellent and for a wrestling storyline the perfect way to send off Big E by putting over his brothers as heels Put the tag belts on Xavier and Kofi and let them ride the heel heat wave to Mania

since we don't have ads here yet i figured i would show you an ad so you could remember what they're like

Problems that come to mind for me: Too many games Still very poor discovery tools Live service block keeps growing Competing with tons of free content outside of games Stalled industry growth Interest rate hikes Audience stagnation

I've reached the point of talking about or referencing the other place is a waste of time the focus should be on building this platform to be a place of thoughtful discussion and sharing ideas “Let the past die. Kill it, if you have to. That’s the only way to become what you were meant to be”

So long as just a handful of long running live service games dominate engagement I don't know how things get fixed. The mass market has to first want to play new games and then has to be convinced to also pay for them. (If you're seeing this you almost certainly don't fit into this audience).

Ever wanted to see the world through someone else’s eyes?

An unfortunate reality of the world we live means that most payments (from a phone app) for "whatever" must flow through the app store payment processors, where they rake about 30% of that payment. But, run that same payment via a webpage and they can't rake it. Do you know how ridiculous that is?

1/ To be clear, this is basically how it works, UNLESS the studio / business has a consistent revenue driver. That alternative income could be some sort of "live service" in an already released title, or strong continued sales of another game that already released.

1/ I don't care what side the political spectrum you sit on. That isn't what I do here. I'm not judging anyone. Regardless, tariffs are generally bad for the consumer because 99% of the time, the business paying the import tax (the domestic business) passes that cost onto the buyer.

Do yall remember when the handful of big games pretty much only released before holiday season, and every rare once and awhile we would get a game in march or may? Now we get multiple bangers every month it seems like. There simply is not enough time or money to enjoy everything we wish to.

Social media is in desperate need of innovation. Meta is only letting you have a slice of control over what you see because Bluesky is here building for you.

1/ We're experiencing a huge influx of users, and with that, a predictable uptick in harmful content posted to the network. As a result, for some very high-severity policy areas like child safety, we recently made some short-term moderation choices to prioritize recall over precision.

Something difficult that I think will be increasingly important is being brutally honest about things that are bad and why they are/got that way, while also determinedly uplifting things that are good to both celebrate them and use them as examples and ways to get better

Let the other site go, ya addicts. Don't post about it, and for the love of everything don't post screenshots from it. Just go live your life.

despite the world becoming scary i still have a perhaps niave but unwaivering belief that a better world is possible

The "bluesky is an echo chamber" think pieces that keep popping up really tickle me because they show how certain people genuinely believe social media should be for debating and arguing and not talking about the things that make you happy and sharing art with the world.

BREAKING: social media platform that has existed for less than two years has yet to replicate a culture as sprawling as one that has existed for almost two decades

"Don't Engage, Just Block" is having a real effect and you can tell it's frustrating the bots, chuds and trolls. They're in my comments trying everything they can to get people there to react -- and no one's biting. And then I swing by and chuck 'em into the cornfield and that's that.
