1/ We're experiencing a huge influx of users, and with that, a predictable uptick in harmful content posted to the network.
As a result, for some very high-severity policy areas like child safety, we recently made some short-term moderation choices to prioritize recall over precision.

I too have received questionable posts/follows…
Just vet them, block them and move on.
Be your own control and give Blue a chance to get up to pace.
You've had concerns, you decided to take extra precautions, and you plan on growing the moderation team going forward?
And you don't plan on making hate part of the business model?
Ummmm...thanks.
Like, a lot.
Anyone who appeals will get a comprehensive review and will be reinstated if they have not violated our Community Guidelines.
As someone who was affected and received NO emails whatsoever? Before my suspension AND after my reinstatement? No... no y'all didn't.
if you were serious here, you'd reverse the warnings as well.
It instead comes across as, “These people are giving excuses to remove me from public life, deny me human rights, and criminalize my existence.”
1. None of us received emails. We had to coordinate to figure out what was happening.
2. When we emailed for clarifaction, we were accused of federal felonies we did not commit.
3. [next post]
He told this to press: https://www.platformer.news/bluesky-growth-content-moderation-trust-safety-interview/
Trust & Safety is lying a lot right now.
i.e. that there was no acknowledgement that the decisions were wrong, just a reduction in punishment
Best of luck to your friend!
THIS, is not a good image as it gives Elon and his cronies a lot of ammo to throw at the site.
I would like an option "remove this follower".
Some accts aren't porn or maga just something you'd rather not have around. Remove follower is a gentle block. Then if they persist, Block. Except magats. Block on sight!
-transparency
-your personal agency
They really should be answering them.
Also many Conservatives also do the exact same thing just to “own the libs”
-especially directed towards POC/LGBTQIA+/women/etc
Be careful, perhaps X is evil, but Twitter was not hell !
I've worked for on social media platforms for years as HR/PR for other folk, got a certification in it, happy to help monitor things.
But you have an excellent point there. The animal torture stuff especially gives me nightmares. (Been fortunate enough to not see child things, don't know how I'd react besides white-hot rage)

The only way I have seen, so far, that it's better than the original Twitter is the 300 character limit instead of the SMS-limited 140 characters (+ 20 more reserved for addressing).
It went downhill fast after mElonhead bought it.
Adjust your settings to block it because it's not going away.
Banning adult stuff = bye bye website. Tumblr learned the hard way.
Safe browsing, friend!
That being said, I just want to help others identify it as well.
This is the 25 rules of disinfo:

He spared me the details but the people keeping us safe are way under paid.
Half of them are bots and the other half are the reason advertisers fled the dead bird app.
It’s necessary.
Let’s be very clear on to what’s acceptable and what’s not.
I have felt the need to block more accounts than I hoped to.
Sincerely,
some dude on the internet
Trusted users like wikipedia could shoulder some of the load
you've made an apology but not any promises to avoid the concerns that made it necessary in the first place
I stumbled on one today. They instantly blocked me. 🙌
Surely "anyone who clicks Like on a post by someone who is then banned for serious TOS violations is themselves banned" can not be the actual policy your site is pursuing? Your individual users are not responsible for the actions of others.
However, I request u make an available all gif from Jan 6
there’s a tiny selection which shows u don’t want it highlighted, but some of us Americans will never forget that day, especially when we still hear the 👮 screams in dreams
I'm not talking about giving anyone power, but the flagging system with a high enough bar (10, maybe 100 flags) may help hiding problematic content as long as 'just created' accounts can not flag.
Thank you for taking us seriously.
Thank you for building us a refuge.
We will repay you with loyalty, with the best of content we have to give, and with gratitude.
You have built it.
They are coming.
I have great expectations for the future of Bluesky.
Please keep up the good work. 👍

Meanwhile frequently those who use "problematic" hashtags, know that they are posting nothing illicit/illegal.
This is unfortunately a job that requires in person checking.
Dog whistles. They get used frequently by people sharing illegal content.
why aren't you proactively reviewing *all* the actions taken, *fully* restoring accounts that didn't violate the rules (with no mark in their "permanent record"), and *apologizing*?
you fucked up, and way to fix fuckups is to actually fix the things you fucked up. go through, look at all the inciting incidents, and clear the fuckin' names of the people who didn't do anything wrong.
it's now your responsibility to sort through everything that got folks banned and remove it from their account.
i got no notice until i appealed, and then when i appealed the only notice i got was a threatening email accusing me of federal crimes for liking an unknown tweet
reinstate all accounts you banned in this sweep and do your job properly. no "final warning" bullshit
See settings > change handle
They seem to have moved it.
Ni extremism here.

Y’all know what to do after that.
https://www.wired.com/story/christopher-bouzy-spoutible-race-to-unseat-twitter/
Elon killed bot sentinel when the api was shut down.
There was a lot of drama with his Twitter clone using of the shelf Russian software.
I've got and account but I haven't checked it in a long time.
Not sure what else but honestly, I don’t see untagged nudity almost ever, so… think about if you’re using the site in a way that encourages that to be something you see, I guess?
(NSFW art IS allowed here, so don’t report it as violating TOS. Just that it needs a label applied so it can be filtered)
What's more, if something isn't tagged as NSFW when your settings disable NSFW, report the post as such - it will get tagged. The button is called "Unwanted Sexual Content" and it's right there, third on the list!

You’ll p off that twitter chap.
Certain corporations that moved to BlueSky are currently pissing people off even more than Elon Musk does by the way, so this surge in popularity may be temporary if nothing is done
Yes, it’s a startup.
Which means there’s room to improve.
Musk ain’t bothered, to be fair. He’s bought the election and got what he wants.
How is Musk supposed to bribe like a billion independent people by the way? lol
Trump sucks, but let's face facts, the democrats have SOMEHOW proven themselves to be even worse. Hence the result
No, what has been proven is that Americans are too stupid to look up what tariffs are until AFTER they have voted to make themselves much worse off.
Especially on a platform that has even less bot protection than Twitter, I might add
See it, click it, report it.
Thank you for the very useful tip.
Still better than being called a communist every day
Making it easier to tag NSFW would help towards making it harder for kids to see porn here and a way more comfortable place for adults who don't want to see it either.
A politically motivated psyop would be to plant evidence of their accusations in an effort to get it shut down.

Also don't forget to report and block anyone that bothers you. 😉
be different from Xapp.
why porn social site?
We've seen where overreach has put most internet platforms as well as countries.
None of the following were reported. All were insta-moderated. (This is only 4 of dozens)
That's news to me xD
All jokes aside, yeah, this way of handling it will never achieve anything good in the long term.
How is one supposed to have a clean debate if what feels half of the English dictionary is a blacklisted word?
(I'm looking at you, Youtube)
It’s been 6 wks and I don’t miss it. It was taking up a LOT of my day. Besides, I can speak like an adult here. It’s so freeing.
Keep it up
Were you able to scrutinize those accounts? Any results?
Catfishers are all over Twitter. Hopefully, not here.
Please address this issue before it gets out of hand. Thank you.
We are counting on your team & are grateful for your work.
NAFO has been tirelessly working on stopping them for years, knowing full well the origins. We are here to help
Keep it up please
Thank you all.
Just go to the three horizontal bars at the very top (Menu drop-down) and open Settings - Moderation - block adult content.
You're welcome.
Thise who bypass this, can get reported.
But we do NOT want Facebook style prudishness!!!
That said, I am entirely against paywall.
Congrats on the boom in traffic!
blocked him
Strangest was Musk's son Damien. I told him I didn't want to talk to his "dad" & he sent me a link, lol
Don't think I like chat
Every now and then I search ‘Elon’ and ‘Musk’ and report/block any that claim to be real!
The people I have reported for various reasons all seem to have been chucked out!
Having an unregulated platform just turns it into a racist, sexist, hate-filled cesspool.
That's what happened to Twitter.
That's why people are flocking here.
Keep up the good work!
Block.
I find myself wondering if it is so easy to for us to spot these obvious would-be scammers couldn't AI do it for us and put those in a "likely spam" category? Any chance of that, @bsky.app?
Thank you.
Thanks!
Look at the Bluesky Counter, I hope by next year, it will have 200 millions users.
Good luck and thank you for Bluesky Team's hard work. 👌😇🥳
Or hear you.
I see your comment , though, if that helps!
🙃
*head pops up from under desk*
(spoken) "Can you guys hear me?"
(spoken) multiple people: "No"
"OK I'll try something else *disappears under desk, bangs head* but it shou-- har har, okay, very funny"
I was about to delete when something finally worked. Not yes.. tapping on the comment brings up replies to it.
I'm betting this person still can't see our comments.
And there's no way to reply to help them.
I'm guessing here - but maybe people allow us to comment but not see other peoples comments?!?!
Is there an easy way to figure this platform out? 😢
I'm of the OLD generation now, and exceedingly DULL with all things technology!
Better safe than sorry !!
Thank You!✌🏻☮️😃🫶🏻💙🇺🇸 🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋
And your moderators could oversee the user moderators.
With rights of appeal by the users - and user moderators stripped of their moderating rights if there are too many upheld appeals?
I LOVE YOUR ATTENTION TO DOING RIGHT AND GOOD.
