The Canadian government has once again very quietly released a bombshell report on Long Covid, which states that out of 438,531 people (adults + kids), 50% had at least one lingering symptom for up to two years. No media coverage. tinyurl.com/5dj9w4ke

As a person who has studied history, an autism registry is a five alarm fire.

Today, I filed a Law Society conduct complaint against Alberta’s Justice Minister and lawyer Matthew Lindsay. Both, in my opinion, engaged in criminal obstruction of justice on the private surgery contracting file. Shortly, I will lay information with the RCMP. #ableg

Map current ... so many rural OR closures!

Are chartered surgical facilities actually making Albertans access to healthcare better? On our new episode, we spoke to health researcher Andrew Longhurst who makes it very clear that when companies put profits first, patients never will. #abpoli #ableg #cdnpoli

I just met with Mohsen Mahdawi where he’s being held in Vermont. He was detained when he showed up for his citizenship interview. He should be released so he can become a citizen.

Workers who track data on car crashes, drownings, traumatic brain injury, falls in the elderly, and other perils lost their jobs. Advocates worry life-saving work will stop.

Before I go into today's dystopian nightmare, let's take a minute to bring down your blood pressure. Here is one of my favorite creatures, the #RedPanda. Enjoy. #nature #animals

After demanding an election for the past two years, now a week away, piffleswipe Pierre Poilievre still hasn’t released a costed platform? The reason, of course, is he and Jenni Byrne don’t want the media, experts or voters any reasonable time to examine it and pick it apart. Vote wisely, 🇨🇦Canada

Here's Justice Alito's dissent to the order preventing the summary removals without due process of scores of Venezuelans to a terrorist prison from which there appears to be no mechanism for return. He cites procedural irregularities. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/24p...

Autism isn’t an epidemic. It's not a disease. It’s a natural variation in how people think…which, frankly, is a relief in a world where most people don't think at all.

This glorious bit of #frockingfabulous was designed by #AntoniodelCastillo for #Lanvin in 1957. It was embroidered by Lesage, of course. #Fashionhistory via the V&A.

An absolute must-read from @stevevladeck.bsky.social this morning: “Just before 1:00 a.m., the justices (aggressively) stepped back into the Alien Enemy Act litigation—in a decision suggesting that a majority understands that these are no longer normal circumstances.”

💯 this!!!

PTSD is largely (but not only) about intrusive symptoms, like flashbacks & nightmares. Complex PTSD is largely (but not only) about what we come to believe about ourselves & how we experience relationships after years of living w/ pain we can't escape.

A core skill that weaves through all trauma & addiction recovery is being willingness to let go of the illusion of "control," & focus in, again & again, on what we can realistically influence. It gets easier-- but never "easy." Give yourself credit & grace.

Innnnteresting.

Boasberg says he doesn't have the power to issue a TRO given this would be an almost identical order to the one SCOTUS vacated. ACLU still has petitions pending before the 5th Circuit, the Northern District of TX, and SCOTUS.

NOW: Judge Boasberg has called an emergency hearing regarding the imminent movement of detainees to CECOT in El Salvador. I'm on the public line and I'll post what I can about the hearing here. 1/

The WHO has released a report on the fatal case birdflu in a child in Mexico. Not linked to travel, did not have history of flu vaccine. Infection was with D.1.1 strain, same strain that has caused severe illness in Canadian teen and US adult. www.who.int/emergencies/...

Thursday Therapy Thoughts 💭 Therapy is wonderful, life-saving, helpful... AND It's not enough---we need structural changes to our systems for people to exist with the basics: human rights, housing, food, universal basic income & universal healthcare!

I'm not a lawyer but it seems to me it's going to be a bit of a challenge for the government to swear they can't do anything to get Kilmar Abrego Garcia back when one senator got him delivered to a hotel street clothes within 36 hours.

NEW: Senator Van Hollen has met with Abrego Garcia.

Oh thank all the gods, he's alive!

In case you're curious why some random guy (me) has been filing self-represented amicus briefs in the Abrego Garcia case:
