Autism isn’t an epidemic. It's not a disease. It’s a natural variation in how people think…which, frankly, is a relief in a world where most people don't think at all.

Exactly, autism is a mental condition that may eventually be inherited, but it´s not a virus or a bacterium or a fungus that could or should be fought with any medications, autists are simply differently abled.
I used to work with a teacher, in her second job (cause Merica goddamn it) who taught me what Asperger's was due to her spouse and teen child having it. I'm so glad she was the one to enlighten me and not some dumbass like rfk Jr.
And, unfortunately, the response seems to largely be to focus on a different set of cases and treat the "extreme" as you put it as if they don't matter.
Disabled people matter, too. My son deserves a future worth looking forward to.
Personally, I believe autistic people are an evolving generation of sub-par intellect humans.
If looking correctly they give us a gift to see the world in a much more interesting & beautiful way.
They are beautiful souls & deserve the greatest respect & protection from evil creatures like RFK.
Very nice.. its tough to think when you believe.. if you believe you know, there is no reason to explore for the answers.. thinking is the act of challenging assumptions ( beliefs).
My adhd brain has never been able to handle numbers well. It’s so frustrating.
My dad was great with math, but couldn’t explain it well, so he’d have to explain it to my mom first who would then have to explain it to me in a different way. Many nights spent staying up late doing homework lol
And that’s the crux of it - it wasn’t till 5th form when I had a teacher who was able to explain things in a way I understood that my math grade picked up.
The earliest settlers were running away from authority, intent on doing things their way.Why haven't MORE whites been identified as autistic? RFK, despite AN education, has NEVER figured out what a democratic republic is, how it is supposed to function. Who is REALLY the autistic person here?
All this binary stuff is bullshit... everything is a spectrum...light, sound, sexuality, neuro divergence, the whole of existence...get over it and get on with living...
The OIL INDUSTRY made sure for DECADES that children had several times the maximum recommended amount of led in their blood. (and enough red hats for them to wear as adults)
If you spent time with a family that has a child with autism that has never spoken and needs 24-7 care due to mental deficits you wouldn't consider it a "relief" . Those families are struggling and will for the rest of their lives. Clearly there are degrees of autism.
1) The parents struggle because autism research is biased & skewed, which means new techniques in autism communication & emotional regulation are rarely developed.
They want parents to buy into ABA Therapy, not because it works, but because it's profitable.
3) Lastly, if you truly want help, then enlist an autistic friend who can naturally interpret autistic communication. We can literally "see" their emotions just like NTs can with each other.
Parenting is a lot easier if a person can tell you how the child is feeling.
I have some experience. I know it. It’s a loved one. I have been “accused” of being on “the spectrum”, I’ve paid taxes, written poetry, loved and lost. Still do 4O hours a week. Point is, I realise he can’t do what I do and I don’t give a fuck. He needs help, I fucking don’t. It’s not hard to know.
The same could be said about Gender Dysphoria. So natural that we changed the name out of the negative connotation and renamed it for what it was always meant to be: Gender Euphoria and thats our business and we’ll only discuss if you ask nicely otherwise don’t talk about us. You’ll only spoil it!
"Autism spectrum disorder (ASD), or simply autism, is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by repetitive, restricted, and inflexible patterns of behavior, interests, and activities, as well as difficulties in social interaction and social communication." 1/2
"Sensory processing differences can produce difficulties in different areas, such as developing social relationships or performing instrumental activities of daily living." Wikipedia "The precise causes of autism are unknown in most individual cases." 2/2
I don't think she has visited many countries. Whether legally or illegally. She has no idea of other cultures, she projects to them what she would like to do here.
Experts got together and put several disorders into one diagnosis, "Autism Spectrum Disorder"
The spectrum ranges from very bright, high functioning to nonverbal, intellectually impaired individuals.
That some on the spectrum are severely disabled, while others are very high functioning. So making general statements that all are very disabled or all are somewhat different but quite functional is not helpful.
I have an autistic daughter and I am eagerly awaiting RFK jr determining the cause of Autism so I can sue the living shit out of his government for “causing” Autism.
Because it ruins lives and even when it doesn't, it makes everything harder to live with. If I weren't autistic, my entire life would be better. I wouldn't struggle all day everyday. It doesn't mean I hate myself, either, just to make that clear - which I shouldn't have to.
To be fair, some of us are. Anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, C-PTSD, etc. are pretty common as a result of being ostracized/mistreated/abused for being autistic. But, yeah, we generally don’t start out that way.
I’m fairly recently diagnosed so I’m still working on that, but I’ve made huge progress. And, coincidentally, my lifelong struggles with anxiety, depression, C-PTSD, disordered eating, self harm behaviors, suicidal ideation, etc. have *dramatically* improved.
My granddaughter is autistic. She sees the world differently. It isn’t wrong it’s just different. She sees detail, stuff we miss. She is going to be amazing when she grows up.
Let's get real, it doesn't matter what the "disability" is, RFK Jr, Trump, Musk, et al, are judging the intrinsic value of human beings. In their estimation, those who need the most support/s are worthless burdens on society. Defending one's abilities and capabilities plays into their narrative.
This is how it started in Nazi Germany. Those chosen for extermination included autistics & disabled. The reason so many autistics object to the “Asperger’s” diagnosis is because Asperger was a Nazi fuck who decided which autistics could be sterilized & put to work vs. being killed.
Now it’s here.
It’s a bit like the person who told me they didn’t want to come too close to me in case they “caught your epilepsy” I replied “ epilepsy is a disorder of the brain so I think you’ll be okay”. I was told off for being cheeky by implying they didn’t have a brain. No wonder I prefer cats/dogs v people
We lived with an autistic cat for fifteen years. He never came for cuddles or sat on anyone's laps but would lie at the back of my legs when I was asleep,
Again It's the broken Food chain -and #BentoniteClay (ancient Indian medicine) can fix that. 67 minerals (which are vital for proper brain function, (and are no longer in our factory farmed food) it purges toxins from the blood supply AND viruses ~of which human beings have 300,000 i.e. #TheSolution
And the supposed rise in autism is just because we're diagnosing it more. If I were growing up now I'd probably be diagnosed with it, but back then you didn't get classified unless your autism was severe. More diagnoses are a sign of progress, not a problem.
Right? I can’t imagine how much different my life would have been if I was diagnosed in childhood rather than in my 50s. I am so grateful the kids diagnosed today don’t have to go through life wondering what is wrong with them.
Yeah. My son has been helped tremendously by therapy over the years; he should be able to make his way in society. Thirty years ago he'd have just grown up picked on as the weird kid and shunned by most everyone.
I believe the confit over autism stems from the fact that we didn’t have a name for the spectrum in the past. The people saying that it’s new or an “epidemic” are simply not understanding or even looking at the actual facts. Actually it’s just identified more now.
Agree! Also think being gay/ trans, probably stems from being a different sex in a past life or two. Kinda makes sense for those who know it’s not your first rodeo.
My father is on the autism spectrum, wasn’t diagnosed until late in life as he was born in ‘47, but I know that I am better for being raised by a human who had a unique way of seeing, thinking about, and interacting with the world.
While autism is a type of neurodivergence, the terms are not interchangeable. Neurodiversity encompasses the idea that there is a wide range of normal brain types, including those of people with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other neurological conditions.
I get what you are saying regarding RFK idiot. I have mild autism and it is a disability. Those with extreme phase 3 autism are very disabled and require constant aid. I am a retired research engineer and would never limit what someone with autism can do but to say "it's natural" I do not agree.
I see it as evolution. If we all ‘thought’ the same or in the same way there would never be any progress. It is natural and has been around for a long time. Many of our great minds have been retroactively recognized as being ‘on the spectrum’.
It's a spectrum ranging from mild to severe. Mine isn't considered a disability because it comes with smartness (ha - except when I do things that make no sense).
There have always been people with ASD. It's no less natural than being LGBTQIA+.
Also low support needs here- I feel like comorbid conditions often get forgotten in these convos and as someone with the physical ones it frustrates me how like hypermobility or pain isn’t considered an inherent part of it but some other symptoms/conditions are for higher support needs havers
On top of that, I really do feel like I have more in common with high support needs autistics than a lot of NTs seem to assume. having constantly overwhelming surroundings is debilitating for us, and if you also struggle with communicating what’s a problem then it causes more issues…
Well, as with many human Aspects, there is a sliding scale. I think that the majority of people diagnosed with autism are, or can be, fulfilled, functioning, uniquely enlightened, people. Those with severe autism deserve to be served by continuing medical & scientific research. Not this idiot.
From your mouth...I couldn't agree more. I was a teacher for 14 years
I lamented the lack of critical thinking. I look at 'Murica and lament...any thought in a massive swath of the country.
I remember when ADHD was called MBD for Minimal Brain Damage and we were out in "special classes" at school wich just put a target on our backs, saying BULLY ME,9LEASE BULLY ME !!
It isnt even called #autism anymore, they use being #onthespectrum wich vary just as much as #ADHD do.
The best explaination I EVER got when they found out I had #ADHD was from an old female psychiatrist:
Look at ur brain as a computer that's wired diffrently, not worse but better than a regular computer.
I see #autism,or all #onthespectrum in the same way.
We always feel the need to define something at the ends of the bell curve as deviant. We name it, say how many people have it, and propose ways to fix it. I just had this happen because instead of hunger pangs I get headaches. Someone called it a syndrome and asked what the docs say. Pissed me off.
If it wasn't for autism, things like writing and inventions never would have happened.
Neuronormals don't come up with paradigm shifting technologies, political systems or art. They need to learn "rules" and "methods" and "systems". They're always trying to replicate neurodivergent intelligence.
NTs are capable, but depending on who is in charge, they may be encouraged or discouraged from such endeavors. They are deeply socially sensitive, almost like a hive mind.
I don't like my own accomplishments dismissed, so I won't dismiss those of others, even if they are AH at times.
Or, it’s a natural evolution of our brains in a post-industrial revolution world. Perhaps autism is the new normal. Maybe “norms” are the strange ones not as able to cope with the changes that are unfolding in our environments.
What little we knew about it for many years never made it into the hands of professionals in places to spot autism early, like schools. Now that we're learning much more about it all the time, it'd be a shame to never have another Einstein though. That's what they want. If eugenicists win, this ^
It is also a spectrum. Great mathematicians, artists & accountants (I’m including because I’m married to one) are on the spectrum. It makes them who they are ❤️
Let’s use his theory as a tool to get kids better food.
His angle is it’s food, so let’s get better school meals, Michelle Obama had that idea,
Let’s get those on food stamps a better amount so they don’t have to get Microwave meals.
Use his logic to at least assist people.
Used to teach judo to a kid with autism. He was articulate about his needs and was doing judo to learn to be better with touching and being touched by others - his solution was judo. He’s married, 3 kids, works with numbers at a masters level and rolls bjj 2X per week
It’s a huge spectrum. It’s quite disabling for some including my son. It’s not a relief at all as he’ll never be independent. Who will make sure he’s not taken advantage of when I’m dead?
We should be studying Trump and RFK Jr. to determine how individuals that were given everything one could want, turned out to be such fucked up immoral human beings.
That's why membership is referred to as being "on the spectrum." Everybody thinks differently from everyone else. There are few unicorns in the middle of the bell curve. *polishing my horn*
You're presuming there will be mid term elections. The turd & muskrat rigged the 2024 election & have publicly admitted it multiple times. If there are mid term elections, expect them to be rigged too. He' already talking about blue states disappearing off the map. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCsBAxBSaXI
A lot of comments glorifying autism though, as if it gives you super hero brain capacity. In my son, it's only given him challenges that are much too hard for him to handle. Let's stay real about what it means for most people and their families: a disorder that is very hard to deal with.
It can be very difficult but a large portion of us (what people consider Autism Lite) lean into the diagnosis, stemming, masking, and really come to like us. It has become my super power. ❤️ I truly respect your love and care for your son. May I ask what level he is on? I am level one, myself.
Autism genuinely comes with a lot of challenges for some kids and some heavy burdens for their families. Support and compassion goes a _long_ way but I do see some people struggling. Those people exist too.
Of course, obviously, it is self-evident that rfk jr is wildly off-base by dismissing the strengths and capabilities of autistic and he can absolutely sit on a tack.
My then 7 year old refused to to go to school & had (and at 10 can still have) violent meltdowns. He understands sarcasm, he makes eye contact, extroverted, normale intelligence, but cannot regulate his emotions. 3 years of love and therapy and he's improving every day. But the struggle is real.
Seriously people who don’t understand it’s just more understood now!! Being neurodivergent is okay! My brothers are and 38 years ago they were just put into a room…. But my mom was a teacher and refused that. One is married to another girl who is also autistic they are my favorite people ! F Trump
I strongly believe that "the spectrum" incorporates all of us and that in time, we will move on from seeing it as something separate, a diagnosed condition, we will simply see it as being in a unique place on the human spectrum along with all of us.
You're correct. Autism is geared towards deep focus while ADHD is focused on maximally distributed focus. All of humanity is on the spectrum between these two extremes. Many have both extremes (AuDHD).
We didn't make it this far as a species because of hyper conformity.
Absolutely...its amazing to look back at human history with the knowledge that we have now and imagine many of the people that have shaped our world, politically, militarily, creatively would be labelled as "divergent" today.
A colleague's wife picks on him for his mild OCD habits. I told her that without people like him civilization wouldn't exist. These are the people who never fall asleep when on their guard shift.
Society needs all sorts. One is not better than another - just different.
OCD was very useful in cataloging resources to make it through harsh winters, warning children of danger, adhering/enforcing rules within the tribe , & more.
It makes sense in societies that existed before written language. They didn't "forget."
Absolutely, can you imagine how many great heroes and brave warriors from our history were merely driven to such feats because of their inherent impulsiveness or their ignoring of consequence in the face of great danger, their fearlessness.
There's a difference between human divergence (think bell graphs) and actually having a different neurotype. Some affect our ability to function and interact, some don't. This is compounded when, like me, you are neurodivergent in multiple ways (ADHD, autistic, gifted, CPTSD, synesthesia).
I was just about to say something similar. We can't arbitrarily conform to societal rules that make no sense to us. We're independent thinkers. We follow our own internal compass. We exist slightly outside of 'consensual reality,' and that makes us a threat.
Not if you're so narcissistic and insecure as a parent that you secretly & perversely perceive your autistic child as a "problem" and you need to blame someone else in order to assuage your sense of "failure" and sick feefees.
You just struck it. I am so fed up with parents who won't let their adult children be who they will be. Just cuz they don't meet the parents definition of how someone should be. It's so infuriating. I want my college students to thrive and parents often let prevent that from happening. Let them go.
Thank you. Exactly this. I was born with it because it's a rewiring of the brain and the various functions. Maybe open the mfing DSM and educate yourself a bit if you want to understand more.
In New Zealand, the Māori term for autism is takiwātanga, which translates to "in his or her own time and space". This term was developed to reflect the unique perspectives and rhythms of individuals with autism.
It's always been with us
Most of history's prominent figures from Alexander the Great to Van Gogh clearly would fall on the expanded Spectrum today
Probably 98% of the population has some autistic traits
Cancer has been known since C. 3000 BCE, they just didn't keep statistics...
My elementary school classmate named Julia who started menstruating at age 9 around 2nd grade thru 3rd grade when we’d gone to summer camp after the school year concluded together & now volunteers with autistic kids yet I started menstruating at age 15 between 8th grade & starting 9th grade
She ran across the Mission Valley summer camp yard super excited to have us reunited for after school summer camp as how our friendship started most close in elementary yet went2the same girls’ Catholic 2ndary where
she’d also been flipping out beyond overjoyed to learn she’d been accepted in 8th grade
& I’d been a plank standing there when in summer camp ~ Julia had been frantically stoked about us going to camp after an elementary peer that then became part of a trinity of besties in 5th grade who’d been
Julia’s bestie before I arrived at St Diddy’s elementary
Where then Julia & I became closer that displaced Carolyn and then Julia, Carolyn & I had our Trinity days also where at my upbringing house ~ the one downstairs shower we had updated brand new ~
Autism is not a “novelty” The term autism was first introduced by Eugen Bleuler in his description of schizophrenia in 1911. However, the earliest research that focused on children who would today be considered autistic was conducted by Grunya Sukhareva starting in the 1920s.
Could be all of those things.
The behaviors of those diagnosed with adhd/asd can be profoundly difficult and need the support of our nation(?) and world. It's one thing to care for someone unable, it's quite another to care for someone unwilling.
Mental health should be AI's first focus.
Autism is evolution: We lack filters.
Some people have to take strong drugs to expand their consciousness; we autistic people are naturally stoned. We have most of our difficulties because our environment is too loud and too deceitful. We are an asset. Some NTs are jealous and have to put us down.
I wish you told my family/teachers growing up. I was bullied and told I was stupid. I finally dropped out of high school at 15, I hitchhiked to community college at 16 and did fine except I almost got raped. Once I leaned how to be a student I was a 4.0 and earned 2 post grad degrees.
Genetic variations? I have worked with autistic kiddos years ago.I would play my guitar and sing and they loved it!!!! One of the kids was a piano virtuoso and he was 10!!!!
But at what point is it not evolution? Would you say the same about someone on the severe end? This is why I wish it wasn’t such a wide spectrum and it had more distinctions.
Thank you for your reply! I don't mean to be disrespectful, but I would say "no risk, no fun" applies to evolution as well. That's my half-hearted explanation for someone on the severe end of the spectrum.
Appreciate you taking the time to post this one. Personally, I think the discovery of unique neurotypes and phenotypes ought to have put an end to this ridiculous concept of 'supremacy' throughout humanity but I didn't count on how eugenic, xenophobic, and insecure we humans are. =/
Yep, in the dark days before Pearl Harbor, in the 1700s, people exhibiting behaviors now associated with 'autism' were likely understood as having some form of mental or emotional disorder, rather than as having a distinct condition. These were days before vaccines and fluoridation of water.
THIS
As a person w rare congenital heart condition, I can hon say every time drs spout off that pregnant women should abort fetuses w it, it’s a gut-punch.😔 100’s of thousands of worthy, wonderful ppl born with it, live full lives.
ND ppl must feel the same every time this f@cker opens his mouth.🤬
HSP are likely autistic. Many who use a HSP are women, who are DXed less often than men. According to Devin Price's book anyway. Other books say they are linked like autism and ADHD are.
Thanks. In my experience, I feel comfortable framing my journey as "manic depressive". Primarily, because all the other alphabet soup is in that cauldron.
I never pondered autism, but a few themes have caught my eye. When HSP was encountered, it blew my mind .. so to speak. (appropriate emoji)
Most people, including myself (I was only recently DXed) don't consider autism because we're only shown the one "male" style in media. Learning more after my DX, like EVERYTHING about me is explained by autism. *EVERYTHING*.
And when it comes with a side order of ADHD, you can't turn the fucker off.
🧠: Tired? Need sleep? Okay, let's just have 12 different trains of thought, a song or two, some ad jingles all playing at once, plus random noise sensitivity to the house settling (thrown in for good measure)...Enjoy!

Everyone may have mental health struggles, but not everyone has mental illness.
And, no, not everyone is “on the spectrum” either.
There are neurotypical (NT) and neurodivergent (ND) people— only ND are actually on the spectrum.

Just an off-the-wall theory, but High Sensitivity is a "species survival characteristic in DNA" right?
The species is under extreme threat in several areas. I'd expect to see more HSP ... more autism.
