Marty was giving Zoe a bath, and I tried to get a photo of the cuteness. When I got close, Marty popped her head up and gave me the stink eye

I love Judy Collins. And I was so thrilled when I was a young teen that the song contains the word "ass". Quite racy for the times. www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvW2...

Song of the day - Eyes on the Prize, performed by Sweet Honey in the Rock. What we all need to do in these nightmare times. www.youtube.com/watch?v=xbq4...

This morning Zoe was snuggled up on the cat heating pad. Marty was standing arched over her and eating breakfast. I tried to get a picture of them, but Marty moved when I picked up the phone. Zoe didn't look at all bothered by having her sister hanging over her.

i'm on bluesky for the scientific community

Going way back for this song that so fits the current situation www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Y8a...

3/3 I live where we get really bad weather when tropical storms move inland. Yes, I am furious about this nonsense. We NEED the National Weather Service.

2/3 Let me tell you this does NOT replace the National Weather Service. I live where there are tornadoes, and I need that warning. I live where there's no preparedness for snow, and I need that warning to stay off the streets with southern drivers who can't handle a quarter inch of snow.

1/2 I grew up learning how to read the weather from my parents, who were raised in the country back before modern weather forecasting existed. I know what a snow sky looks like. I know the eerie yellow-green that the sky often turns before a tornado.

Actual photo of the Holy Spirit high fiving us. She’s in this for the long haul.

NOAA is in the Trump administration's crosshairs. You know the important work they do, but may now know that It's the descendant of the Coast Survey, the nation's first scientific agency, founded in 1807 under Jefferson. I spoke with maritime historians to put NOAA's legacy in context. πŸ§ͺπŸ¦‘πŸŒŽπŸŸ

Zoe (tabby) and Marty (tuxie) snuggled on the library sofa.

Song of the day - The Pot and Kettle by the Rumjacks. Pot and kettle insulting each other, but 'But we're both here cookin' on the same old fire.' And that's the state of America today. www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BQY...

A different type of song today. It's a hymn based on a poem written in 1845 by the abolitionist James Russell Lowell. Regardless of your religion, now is the time to decide for the good or evil side. Once To Every Man and Nation, by the London Philharmonic Choir www.youtube.com/watch?v=U21b...

The Horned God is usually a positive, life-giving force of nature, but he has a darker side. As Herne the Hunter, he leads the Wild Hunt in English tradition and is quite terrifying. I call on Herne to harry evildoers in the land. Noon of the Solstice - Damh the Bard. www.youtube.com/watch?v=7J4k...

The American version of the Wild Hunt. Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson, Ghost Riders in the Sky. I invoke the Wild Hunt against all who would destroy our world. www.youtube.com/watch?v=-zol...

Odin, Woden to the Anglo-Saxons, is a magician and sometime trickster who works to keep the world from ending. He also leads the Wild Hunt against evildoers. I invoke the Wild Hunt against all who would destroy our world. Song - Odin, by Faun, with Einar Selvik www.youtube.com/watch?v=ch-f...

Frau Holle, the Germanic goddess of winter, snow, and magic is also a protector of children. She is also quite fierce and leads the Wild Hunt against evildoers. I invoke her aspect as leader of the Wild Hunt and protector of children. Today's song - Holle, by Faun. www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWQu...

Song of the day - Baldur, by Faun. Life and the sun, to cheer you in this dismal time. www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PhF...

Encouraging song of the day - Lift Every Voice and Sing, performed by Alicia Keys. Yes, it IS Black History Month! www.youtube.com/watch?v=DS60...

For troublesome priests, we give thanks to the Lord.

Yes, I wanted to build a snowlady. We got about 5 inches of snow, but it's starting to melt. The low is 14 tonight, so I expect there will be icy roads.

The snow is starting to accumulate now. I was glad that I remembered I have wool socks, because it's getting nippy out there. I made a nice pot of lentil soup to enjoy during this freezing weather.

Pretty little snow flurries. Early dismissal from work today and telework tomorrow. And a good performance appraisal. Plus a purring Zoe parked on my lap.

My latest spider rescue: There was a large hunting spider in the toilet bowl when I went to pee. I armed up with my plastic takeout container that I use to catch spiders and a paper towel. I got spidey to climb the paper towel, popped her into the container, and rehomed her to the garage.

Yesterday was a cold damp rainy day here. Temperatures hovered in the mid-30s, too cold for snow but cold enough to be miserable. Marty parked herself on the cat heating pad. Zoe spent a bunch of time on my lap. I had plenty of white bean soup leftover to heat for dinner.
