If passed, a new Kentucky state bill (SB-89) would end protections for thousands of miles of headwater ephemeral streams that are critical for slowing floodwaters, filtering pollutants and supporting aquatic ecosystems. Tell your legislators to vote "NO!" on SB-89. actionnetwork.org/letters/sb89...

A federal appeals court heard oral argument today challenging the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s decision to move forward with a new plan for its Southgate pipeline through Virginia and North Carolina. The request includes greater pipe diameter and capacity.

Due to the federal funding freeze, the U.S. government isn’t processing state requests for abandoned mine land cleanup projects. This is putting projects such as improving drinking water in small coalfield communities on pause and hamstringing efforts to address the impacts of recent flooding.

Attention: @coalrivermountain.bsky.social, @wvhighlands.bsky.social, Appalachian Voices and @sierraclub.org filed a lawsuit challenging the decision to grant a Clean Water Act permit for four valley fills associated with the Turkeyfoot Surface Mine in West Virginia. #EndMountainTopRemoval

North Carolina is facing a massive buildout of new proposed methane gas projects, including two new pipelines. These projects would pose significant safety and health risks to surrounding communities. 🚫

In the past few years, hard-working rural and Appalachian communities have come together to put funding from two major federal laws to good use. But right now, all of this progress is at risk. So, it’s time members of Congress hear from YOU.
