Thinking once again of all the care and attenyion Bill Watterson put into each and every Calvin and Hobbes strip so that someone who was new - or out of the loop - could intuit what was going on.
Thinking also of Jerry Holbert, and what happebed to his cartoons.

The panel borders represent less value to the "cartoonist" than the """curves""" of the poor women he poorly draws

Woops, you just reinvented Seth.
I listened to the latest "9 Chickweed Rage", and it turns out his plan was, somehow, to make Edda a wedding dress so attractive that...Amos would have no choice but to let Seth fuck him?!
Was that somehow his plan with Lolly, too?

I *WISH* we could get John Carpenter to adapt this shit to a movie.

The "Cartoonist" casts a dart once again at his corkboard of ragged, nigh-on shredded story ideas.
It lands right on the crossover between "women hate and hurt one another for a man's attention" and "plausibly-deniable racism".
He nods, mindlessly, but in a way that makes it look thoughtful

As for "Flesh Moai", look at literally any of the other strips to figure out why I call him that

There was that sunday strip in which the twins and Flesh Moai only shifted tickets by implying they were going to be performing naked.

It's also a whole lot of fun, and has some odd fat #Thunderbolts in it.

His opinions are always specious and provocative ("Why did they base Ultimate Luke Cage on a Marxist? Why is Doctor Doom being used as a political metaphor?!", as though goading the reader to call him out.

I think the dude might be trying to clumsily game the system by writing shitty reviews of popular comics so as to drive traffic to his website.

It would make sense. Would it be normal? No. It's not a trope correlated with hero material. Off the top of my head I can think of one fictional character who does it and it's Disney's Prince John of Robin Hood fame.

So the core conceit of Perfect Ballet Piano Goddess and her Besotted Dullard Loveslave gets a zesty little twist of despair: he's probably her Loveslave because he has never received affection from any other human being

I myself went diving the other day to see how the art had changed over 5 years, and found yet another "Seth and Edd makeout times" entry. It was how they greeted each other while she...waited to give birth...

Tho the advantage with Paul is that - because of Zeb Wells' mediocre writing - he's essentially a blank slate. His character traits are "acts vaguely nice most of the time", "is with MJ" and "committed genocide by accident".
A tough sell, but Ewing is the guy who made Venom Horse compelling.

I would be very happy with either candidate. I think Robbie is a heroic and established character who deserves his turn in the spotlight, and I feel like Rick has enough bounceback that when the symbiote inevitably returns to Eddie, he'll be able to just zip into the next thing.
