Hi! 😁 Building emberist.com!
comment in response to post
Hi Lars :) could I get on the list?

That's really interesting! How many of your users would you say use your own Auth? I went the complete other way and only added Google oauth. Wondering if I'm missing out.

Not entirely sure how to go about UGC while still growing the user base. What are you thinking?

Hey πŸ‘‹ emberist.com

Spent some time updating Emberist.com 's landing page and going to try paid ads over the weekend. Any tips from paid ads pros?
comment in response to post
Just gave Windsurf a try because of your post... It's nice and cool that it's only $10/month, but I feel cursor is still better for the moment.
comment in response to post
You won't see it on the pricing page, go to settings (assuming you're subscribed).
comment in response to post
Ah my bad, it used to be that you pay 20 for 500 more as a one time, now it's per month. However, they do have usage based pricing for the big models.
comment in response to post
They only show you that once you go into your usage page.
comment in response to post
I think that's per month and you can pay a one time $20 for 500 more fast requests as the usage based pricing part
comment in response to post
I believe you can pay for extra fast premium completions
comment in response to post
I think Cursor does.

I ran into a similar issue while I was designing the UI for Emberist's new goal feature and thought I'd share. Top is what I had initially until I realised that I could remove several redundant elements to make it less busy for the user while directing their attention to the goals directly.
comment in response to post
Appreciate you having a look! Have a couple of features i'm closing off now and will turn my attention to reworking the landing page messaging.
comment in response to post
Nice! What kind of budget did you put down for the ads?
comment in response to post
This makes it difficult to go from a state of no-audience to some relevant audience that might actually be interested in the product. I guess this is what makes paid ads appealing - to go from 0 to 1.
comment in response to post
Thanks, that's helpful! What I find difficult is finding my audience in a place where it's ok for me to share, discuss and promote my solution. e.g. For Emberist, I want to help people take control of their finances. Subreddits tend to be anti-promo of any kind. Facebook groups are full of scams.

It's how you organise elements in your design according to direct the user's attention. E.g. It would be wise to have your value proposition as the first thing that users see when they land on your page. How do you make it the first thing?Position it in the middle of their view and make it large.

Do you have a rough outline of how you tackle organic? It's difficult to know where to invest the time.

Launched and working on emberist.com :)

I don't qualify myself as a design but there's a few things i've learned from working with designers - Less is more (It's a lot more difficult to get a cohesive website, the more stuff you have on it.) - Alignment and spacing are super important. - Respect visual hierarchy.

It feels like this is going to be the next SEO in a year or two. The question is, how do you get ChatGPT to reference you?
comment in response to post
Have you put the URL of the page you want indexed into the URL inspection? Does it give you a reason there?
comment in response to post
That's pretty cool! How old/popular was the content it picked up?

Building a personal finance tracker here! Happy to connect :)

I've done something similar on subscription cancellation but I've made the feedback purely optional. If a user is trying to leave, I don't want to see them leave with a bad taste in their mouth about how annoying it was to leave too.

Agree, communities are an extremely smart play. I'm unsure how to get over the cold start problem too however. How do you start a community as a single person?
comment in response to post
Really like the idea of building a community around Emberist where sharing progress, tips etc. would be enabled in the platform. Have considered getting behind FIRE. My reservations are that FIRE doesn't seem to be to everyone's taste but I think personal finance should be.
