Indeed. He even explains how people in flats/apartments can help. In sufficient numbers all those small properties can have a massive beneficial impact. It's such a positive message.

This really is a great piece. He speaks about the US but the message is universal. What a brilliant approach!

I'm in the UK but this is exactly what I've been trying to do. I wish more people would lose the obsession with perfect lawns and embrace biodiversity.

It certainly sounds like good news, but do we know if he pays any attention to the rulings against him? Do they just carry on anyway until the loaded Supreme Court rules?

Yes, "imperious" - good word and so appropriate. They obviously know something we don't!

Beautiful photo. I love their iridescent patches!

I couldn't vote for either of them, but given Labour's trashing of environmental protections I don't think I could support them either. I had hoped they'd be better than the Tories, but for nature they've been worse, which is saying something!

Thank you. I took quite a few of them over a year or two. Still got fingers crossed that they'll be back this year. 🤞

PS: This is probably my favourite photo of our Swallows. Wish I'd got some of the Swifts when they used to mill about the front field. I was once working in my bedroom, with the window wide open, when a Swift twice came in, banked around the walls and flew out again!

Nice guide. We lost Swifts 20 years ago. Had two years without Swallows but returned last year. Martins tried nesting under the eves once but stupid angled plastic soffits prevented them. Rushed out and bought a variety of Martin nests and put them up next day, but too late! They've not returned.

Yay, our very own Trump. What could possible go wrong?
comment in response to

That's their resin d'etre in a nutshell.
The environmental impact of Trump's executive orders is already catastrophic and there are so many bad things happening at once it's hard to fight on all fronts. Which is probably the plan, as far as they have one.

Nice pic and pretty creature.

Exactly. They can only "urge" or make suggestions, as they simultaneously want businesses to be able to do whatever the hell they want to do!

That sounds like a reasonable possibility. Thanks.

Given the number of countries whose citizens have been appallingly treated I'm amazed it's only 11%!

Strangely I have no desire to be known as famously "mean" and have no interest in the views of people who are. I'd rather be thought of as kind. Obviously I'm defective in some way.

It is mind blowing, when looking at what he's done so far, that 42% of people can possibly believe it's not a total disaster. I assume they either see/hear no news or just Fox.

Ah, I don't feel so bad then! I did plant both of those in a part of my wildlife area but they didn't survive. I suspect insufficient light. I need to thin the trees and lay another hedge.

They are against education. Educated people don't usually vote the way they want them to. So kill education and problem solved.
comment in response to

Absolutely. I'm sick of saying it, but you cannot have infinite growth on a finite planet. This obsession will literally kill us. There are places/countries talking about de-growth, which is what's needed.

We kept hens many years ago. Lost two lots to foxes and two lots to badgers. With foxes they'll get them the one day you are late shutting them in. With badgers they smash or dig their way in!

Btw, I saw the concern in the other reply. Do you have hens?

Fair enough. If they come close enough you can see the zip on the fox suit.

Interesting. Not sure if my Yellow Rattle has survived, but pretty sure I don't have Ribwort.

How come everyone has plants in their lawn that I don't have?😉

Apparently now. Still not good though. In the states there are no agencies left to investigate such things.

Yep and wouldn't it be great if you could repeatedly crash the stock market and you and your mates knew in advance when it was going to happen?

The whole thing with tsla prices has been weird lately. You can look at he Dow Jones and expect one thing then find tsla has done the opposite for no apparent reason.

Well they're lucky not to have been mowed to extinction. More and more places around here are mowing the verges near their houses!🤬
