I'm a broken record on this so I'll just say again that you should take every opportunity to [if you can] gather with other people who are trying to do constructive things in the world. Attend the zine fairs, the craft circles, the workshop sessions, food distros, people's assemblies, all of it.

The Vagina Museum is just one month away from closing. Forever. A perfect storm of circumstances means that we may have to close our doors permanently and cease all digital activities. But we're not going to go down without a fight. Save the Vagina Museum. www.gofundme.com/f/btscc2

This ground-breaking book came out in 1974 (back when fantasy by women was still thin on the ground) and so many writers of my generation were hugely influenced by it, as well as by her subsequent work. She was an absolutely master of fantasy literature, and deserves to be more widely known as such.

I have long had The One and Only as my theme song of choice.

1. First #ttrpg you ever played? Advanced Fighting Fantasy 2. First you ever ran? Also Advanced Fighting Fantasy 3. Played the most? D&D 5E 4. Run the most? AD&D 2E 5. Favorite? Legends of Anglerre 6. Most recently played? D&D 5E 7. Most recently run? D&D5E

Good grief, Martin. Did you have to actually simper? Did senpai notice you? I realise your people aren't noted for having spines, but you could at least have looked like a head of state, not a schoolboy meeting an athletic crush.

Average wait time for hitchhiking across Europe. I’m so happy that such a dataset exists. Source: buff.ly/4Q63Vm6

My working theory of a lot of NT people is that they are far more rigid than autistic people, because I can generally explain things rationally to an autistic person and we can work out something, but many NT people will cling to rote acceptable behaviour they're not even aware is a choice

Every time I see a person I like and respect start a new Substack I die a little. If you've had one for a while, okay, it's annoying to switch (please still do) but now? In 2025?! Starting a new newsletter on the known transphobic Nazi supporting Substack?!? Please! There are so many other options!

elon musk is probably the current largest threat to the climate, as he dismantles every climate program and defunds all climate science research supporting his downfall, even if it takes tesla with him, is a great pro-climate action. people can buy other evs that don’t enrich tyrannical nazis

New Issue, at last: gentledecline.beehiiv.com/p/gentle-dec...

the more I read of Grass by Sheri S. Tepper, the more I can’t help wondering if she wrote it, at least in part, as a deliberate subversion and critique of Dune, because you can (I would argue) read it that way with tremendous ease, and to great effect

If you see this, quote it with what you're reading this weekend! I'm re-reading @fozmeadows.bsky.social's An Accident of Stars, because the world in there makes a lot more sense than the one out here.

Very dedicated tailoring and jewelry making, and occasionally assisting a marginalised community with representation in the world. While being undead.

I just got AI junk in Google search results, in Ireland. I cannot express my dislike of this strongly enough.

. Haiku for 2025 Every day it's just What in the actual fuck Please please make it stop #haiku

I'm trying to remember if I've been on a train this year that was on time AND didn't board late AND had the seat reservations actually working. It doesn't seem like it should be all that difficult; lots of countries manage it every day.

We live in capitalism, its power seems inescapable — but then, so did the divine right of kings. Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings. Resistance and change often begin in art. -Ursula K. Le Guin

It's my level up day today! 😊 Reaching lvl 36, and would be happy to celebrate with everyone here. So, might I asked for reposts?👀 I heard that's a thing. I offer angels, OCs, cool old ladies and cute frogs in return!

It's a day for being cosy and warm indoors - proper Irish weather in February! Here's our Candle Wreath doing its best to improve the mood. phenologydecor.com/product/cand...

TDs shouldn't be landlords and this shouldn't be an even remotely controversial thing to say. So many simple solutions for the housing crisis that get shouted down as very controversial. "People should be able to afford their rent" "Lol check out this economically incoherent rube over here"

Really pleased with how these held up through the winter. #gardening #ireland

Umberto Eco put together a now-famous list of 14 attributes of fascistic states. I'm going to discuss each of them in hopes this helps ppl understand that fascism is not just a buzzword. We're going to go through these by theme, so strap in. 🧵

The Internet makes so much more sense when you realise this, though. A sizable number of people out there seem to think that every post, every question, every remark or criticism, is addressed directly to them. And they feel they have to respond.

Irish friends, is there anyone coming to Eastercon in Belfast who would be willing to take a packaged up book and mail it to someone in Ireland once they are back in a sane country? Just one small book, I promise. Brexit is a freaking disaster.

🦔 Ancient Cycladic hedgehog! This little guy is from Chalandriani, Syros, Greece. He dates to the Early Cycladic II period (2800-2300 BCE). National Archaeological Museum, Athens, Greece. 📷 by me.

Good GRIEF.

Session 0 of my new Arabian-themed Swords of the Serpentine campaign: COMPLETE! In Dec. we finished the six-year-long SotS campaign set in Eversink. Now it’s new heroes, new setting, new tone, and a whole lot of genies. Session 0s are the best. Built the world, pitched heroes, set expectations.

Oh hey, this looks interesting!
