Real life has been a right mess lately. (Thanks US politics directly impacting my family...) I ended up missing out on a game jam that I was super excited about, but sadly hobbies have gone out the window of late. Hoping to get back into it all soon.

This last month has been… a lot as someone fed-adjacent. Lots of stress and worry (and anger.) I’m signed up for a few game jams and had my own personal design challenge (2025RD) that kind of got put in the back burner. I’m hoping to revisit all of this this week/end. I need the distraction!

Forever player advice: Published bestiaries are for DMs - bring a journal or at least a few sheets with spaces for drawing monsters and describing where you found them, how they acted, and other notable stuff. Make up a name for it and refer to it by that name. #osr #playerculture

Looking at my year in review and my New Year’s resolutions for 2024, I hit about 50%. 1. Make more time for myself. Absolutely failed that. 2. Create a gaming something. I actually did this thanks to the DURF Game Jam! I think my resolutions will stand for next year as well.

I really like BSKY. But it’s not without needing some room for improvement. I keep my online presence compartmentalized w/ different accounts for different things. This is as much for me as it is for y’all! I wish I could see if I had notifications on my other accounts w/o having to switch over.

Update: I beat it last night with the true ending. What a phenomenal experience. A unique take on the genre with some really cool mechanical ideas. I wish the lie system was more fleshed out. And aside from one boss, the difficulty was fair and even throughout the entire game. What a fun ride.

I’ve been playing through Lies of P lately & been having a stellar time. It’s a masterclass in putting a compelling twist/take on a well-known story. It’s a really solid game to boot that brings some fresh ideas to the at times too samey souls-like genre. There’s some gamable elements here, too!
