Another fun(?) thing is that Danish doesn't use the present participle, so you'll have to rework entire sentences to translate that one fluently. Languages can sound and feel a lot closer than what they in reality are when you start to dig deeper.

One of the interesting things about being fluent in languages that share a family is stuff like this, honestly. Yes, on the surface level it may seem easier to learn another language that's in the family of your native one, but being able to translate directly doesn't actually make you fluent.

Probably more literary horror? If that's a thing? Definitely not broadly spec this time around and not strictly horror either

One thing that I've really enjoyed about leaning more into horror than fantasy for 2ish projects now is the way that my academic interests suddenly align much more with my creative interests, and I can use a more literary voice without losing the plot (quite literally, lol). Yay for self-discovery!!

Hell yeah!!!

I've been rather surprised by how much thematic overlap there is between these two once you really start digging into the transgression of literal and abstract borders in society. The less obvious one is perhaps immigration, but it's there all the same.

It's so infuriating!

Yeah, I just wouldn't feel safe/wouldn't trust it, and I don't think it feels like I'm exaggerating either. I know the perceived risk might be smaller where I would be (MN), but it still just doesn't feel like a good idea. At all. What a mess.

It's the worst.

This sounds so much like what I encounter each time. It's just... yeah... *big sigh*

I totally understand that. And it's horrible to feel this way, honestly

I'm not gonna give them any kind of potential excuse, frankly, and it's wild that I've come to think this way in such a short span of time.
