We had all the evidence. We had sympathetic clients (nuns). We had declarations from very trustworthy sources. This judge is usually pretty good. She's made national news a couple of times but I'll always be mad at her for this. When she eventually retires and goes into ADR, I might bring it up. LOL

I was given 15 minutes of oral argument to set her straight. She kept saying, "that's not what it says in my write-up." I said, "but that's what it says in the memorandum; didn't you read it?" Mistake. She hadn't. She ruled against the motion. The next day the courts closed due to Covid.

I once wrote an untouchable MSJ. Literally, the laws of physics were on our side. Our original hearing date got moved twice because the judge hadn't reviewed the documents. The hearing finally comes, and the judge is utterly confused about everything. She's mixing up facts, dates, documents etc.

Didn't it just happen to you on this site like a month or two ago because you write for NYT?

Is it possible that Clement could argue that it should either be dismissed with prejudice or not at all? Didn't Emil Bove claim that the prosecution was meritless and political? If that wasn't a lie, what non-corrupt premise is there to keep the charges hanging over Adams?

Someone said this chart just looks like the same people are buying homes over and over again... That's probably somewhat true. Selling a greatly appreciated house is an easy way to get a down payment for a new house.

Sadly, we are seeing Ayn Rand's fantasy realized. Only, instead of brilliant business leaders causing liberal society to suffer by depriving it of their talents, they are destroying society by depriving society of the skilled and essential workers that make up the federal government

I almost hope that's the case, as diabolical as that plot would be.
Of course, my first thought was: "This has Chris Paul's fingerprints all over it"

Every time I have had such a conversation this last month, I must state, "This is so stupid that we are having this conversation; it makes me feel like a crazy person but..." The reality is that we cannot divorce his Canada rhetoric from 1) his stupidity and 2) the way he talks about Ukraine

Do you think we would have a civil war if we tried and that many would side with Canada even fight with Canada? Seems like the US losing such a war would be the only remaining hope to stop fascism.

The founding truth of America is we have no king. The founding truth of America is under comprehensive attack, and it deserves a defense from everyone loyal to the constitution.

You are smarter than this. This is a pretty unambiguous political gift - a way to explain all the lawlessness that we have witnessed and you think it's a distraction? Last week he wrote, "He who saves his Country does not violate any Law." This week he called himself King. What should we focus on?

That formerly really Trumpy Congressman too. I can't remember his name, but he reconsidered a broad swath of his former views once he left the cult.

Could Adams argue that despite the deal for dismissal the case should be dismissed with prejudice since Bove stated the government was dropping the case because the prosecution was political and inappropriate? Seems like that's and admission the government shouldn't have (falsely) made.

Was he joking when he tweeted "He who saves his Country does not violate any Law"?

Right. He tweeted "He who saves his Country does not violate any law" a couple of days ago. He has been brazenly ignoring all separations of powers.
