This is a very disappointing headline and article. Totally understand TOI needs to buy from AFP, but in this case the article covers up the Ugaritic confederation's attempt to protect minorities in the Levant from HTS's Islamic radicalism. These attacks were on Alawi & Christian leaders

I love Cory, but we need to respond to the antisemitic nature of this. Clearly DOGE is lead by a bunch of people who aren't Jewish -- but by highlighting Krause, and describing him as the Fagin character, the story is being shifted to blame the Jew manipulating the gentiles to harm the wider public.

I read Anxious Generation because of my experience seeing my daughter with social media. I then went deep into the public data sets he maintains. I appreciate his perspective. I can't see how asking people to limit social media consumption is capitalistic. Nor can I understand how you got there

I don't understand why you find a problem with publicly being inviting of critique, but privately doubting and demanding critics be more rigorous. Seems not only natural, but critical to address what could in fact be a public health concern fueled by billions in ad revenue

What would be your alternative metaphor? I'd argue the marketplace worked exactly as any marketplace: those with means used any means necessary to crush their competition, capturing channels as opposed to ensuring product quality. What would be your desired system for idea propagation?

To be clear: there are good arguments for nationalism: I do not know of any other method of democratic, liberal popular enlistment of individuals towards common cause with so much success. Unless Planetarists can convince nationalists we're living in the same building, global policy will be stuck

I think it would be helpful to have a bit more of a taxonomy of the types of communication allowed, and the types of targets identified. Yes, there are echo effects, but there are also wedge effects and phishing actions - each w their own place. I'd also recommend success for successful models
