A colleague at Stanford’s business school used The Stanford Daily to argue—poorly—against DEI. The piece was riddled with historical errors and left one searching for fact, so I broke my public writing hiatus to respond. I hope you’ll read and share the piece. stanforddaily.com/2025/04/22/w...

John Horhn, a longtime Mississippi senator, is the Democratic nominee to be the next mayor of Jackson. He defeated Mayor Chokwe A. Lumumba, the Democratic incumbent who has led the capital city since 2017 and faces federal bribery charges, in a landslide victory on Tuesday night. buff.ly/RIejcuQ

The creepometer for every member of that administration is off the charts.

Someone needs to remake Idiocracy as a straight up horror movie.

We're gearing up at @mississippifreepress.org to bring you live election results in the Jackson primary runoff for mayor and city council this evening after the polls close at 7 p.m. CST. You'll be able to keep up with the results here: www.mississippifreepress.org/live-2025-ja...

Leonard Leo and Fed Soc were running the Supreme Court today for all practical purposes. What a horrific case and quite possibly the real beginning of the end of public schools which is Leo’s agenda.

I hope the WHPC interviews the penguin delegation.

Trump doesn't have the cards.

How did I know they would completely defund Headstart? They wrote it down in Project 2025 .

The GOP is just completely primitive troglodytes now. They take know nothing to a whole new level.

Probably jut leftover

The straw grasping stage of grief.

Maybe it's intentional. Been shopping locally a LOT more since the election.

My first apartment in 1994 was $350/month. Adjusting for inflation, that apartment should now rent for $744/month. It actually rents for $1500. Greed and inflation are hurting the kids, not their Starbucks lattes.

She needs help. Not kidding.

It can happen in red states. Calls and showing up work!

Exactly.

My Girard office will be holding evening office hours tomorrow on Tuesday, April 22nd from 4:30pm to 7pm (by appointment only). If you can't make it in during regular hours for help with a federal issue, this is a great chance to ask questions or just check in — we’re here to help!

These are the proactive steps states need to be taking right now. Another thing: every Democratic governor needs to have a sit-down now with the state adjutant general to carefully review that person's understanding of their responsibilities to their state, its citizens and the federal constitution.

My explanation is simple: a lot of these white men were always reactionary. They simply now have a permission structure to let their reactionary flags fly. Quite a few of us made this point regularly on Twitter. Almost everyone who made the point were Black women [facts] so we were dismissed.

Walt Kelly’s Pogo poster for the inaugural #EarthDay on April 22, 1970.

Powell is not as tolerant of stupidity as Fauci. Trump had better tread carefully there.

We've been begging for more attention and more effective state and local Democratic party organization in rural red southern states for years.

FOR WHOM? Start investigating the white boy billionaire tech bros behind this stuff, and the foreign despots who love them, and not just Musk, who is their useful idiot.

Please start training focus on him. Start with his motivation in elevating Vance.

He's trying to find some way to give us all money, so we'll quit hating him for being the worst president in history. He thinks that's what got him reelected, and he's probably not wrong.

They're learning in real time what they can't control.

Dems finally hired someone that knows how to reply 🤣💀

Homeland Security secretary's bag gets stolen at a restaurant is quite the headline.

Trump doesn't have the cards. Jokers wild alone won't cut it.

High school all over aain.

I suspect he didn't.

7:45 pm on Easter. Doesn't appear to be busy with family holiday activities.

He will be dangerous, whoever he is--someone like Tom Cotton.

The next one will likely be even worse, because he's very likely to be a competent fascist with an ideology that thinks nothing of turning the military on any opposition.

He's in his end game.

Republicans give Trump all the power by refusing to exercise their own, and this is a feature, not a bug.

Racist drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son.

Trump's 145% tariff on China sparked a surge in imports. But exports didn't follow. Now, West Coast ports are sending ships back empty. This isn't economic revival. It's a retreat. This week's Data and Politics long form newsletter post. www.dataandpolitics.net/empty-ships-...

Andry Hernandez Romero, the Venezuelan makeup artist sent to a notorious Salvadoran prison, claimed asylum in the US because he was persecuted as a gay man. Chris Van Hollen met in El Salvador with Kilmar Abrego Garcia. Andry lived in San Diego—why hasn’t Alex Padilla or Adam Schiff met with him? 🤨

We may survive this due to their incompetence, lack of coordination, and stupidity. But we've been gravely compromised wrt our national security, and how our adversaries, especially China, choose to exploit that fact is something we may not survive.

Of course he doesn't. He's a common thug.

If they're right about what prophesy they think they're forcing to fulfillment, they'll do it again. That one doesn't end well for them.

In the darkest times, there is cause for hope. May we find strength in each other and our shared belief that a better world is possible. Wishing everyone celebrating a blessed Easter.
