These are the proactive steps states need to be taking right now. Another thing: every Democratic governor needs to have a sit-down now with the state adjutant general to carefully review that person's understanding of their responsibilities to their state, its citizens and the federal constitution.

When the president federalizes the guard they are under federal control and so states have no authority to stop them from operating. (For example, the federalized NG enforcing the desegregation of Little Rock Central High over Arkansas’s objections.)
Where we are possibly headed.
I’ve worked with people from all over the country. I’m shocked at what people accept in other states. They willfully decide to vote for people who have zero interest in making their state pleasant and livable.
