AOC: We must acknowledge the terrifying moment we are in right now. What we are hearing and seeing with our own eyes is, in fact, happening. We are watching our neighbors, students, and friends being fired, targeted, and disappeared. It is real.

I would like to point out that the executive branch claiming the power to mete out life/death sentences seems like a separation of powers issue as well

@warren.senate.gov: "This is the Trump administration. Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous for the billionaires. Billionaires win and everybody else loses. And they laugh about it."

A very, very good question.

Good way to see the current tariffs, as of literally today, is no tariffs on high value add manufactured goods marketed to middle and upper middle classes. Massive tariffs for cheap consumer items which amount to the biggest economic privilege of working class/middle class life in US.

the transfer to El Salvador of US deportees is, per Pres Bukele, a straight up contract that has “nothing to do w/foreign policy.” The fees we are paying makes their entire prison system “sustainable.” Don’t see how US can make argument that bringing A-G back is some sensitive foreign policy matter

This right here 🔥 “If there was market manipulation, it is a crime. Someone needs to go to jail… I want the documents. I want the Signal chats too, because I don’t trust them — that they weren’t sharing all this information across their Signal chats.” – @repstevenhorsford.bsky.social

AOC: The crumbling of our rights and protections. Understand that all of this is what it means and what it feels like to be governed by billionaires. This is what oligarchy feels like.. it is this system that has brought us the most corrupt administration in American history..

This is why the Trump Administration included the following language in its affidavit today: Abrego Garcia is being “detained pursuant to the sovereign, domestic authority of El Salvador.”

AOC: How can anyone possibly make an objective vote on healthcare, energy, or war when their personal wealth is tied up in pharmaceutical, oil and gas, or defense company stock?

#BREAKING: Over 36,000 people rallied in Los Angeles today in support of @sanders.senate.gov and @aoc.bsky.social’s OLIGARCHY TOUR — setting a record as their largest stop on this tour.

Area Man Claims To Be Strongest Leader in World But Can’t Ask El Salvador a Favor

AOC: Donald Trump is a criminal—convicted on 34 felony counts of fraud. He is lying, and he is manipulating the stock market too. At his best, he enriches himself, the billionaires who back him, and the members of Congress who trade with him. Not you. Not me. Not the people.

BREAKING: 36k people showed up in LA for Bernie and AOC’s rally. In the off year. Americans are pissed — and anyone ignoring that is making a big mistake.

The United States is the richest country in the history of the world. But who benefits from those riches? Consider: the richest 10% of Americans hold nearly 70% of the nation’s wealth – while the bottom 50% hold just 3%. See the problem?

AOC: And his whole presidency began with launching tools for bribery, meme coins to fleece working people and move around money in the dark, extortion settlements from media companies and law firms who gladly pay them

There is no explicit Constitutional prohibition against wrongfully deporting the father of a disabled child to a death camp in El Salvador. So it's hard to make sense of what the Supreme Court was trying to say today. by Jonathan Turley

I bet more Republicans than Democrats had already recognized him.

The median voter will never check out a library book from the US Naval Academy, so Pete Hegseth favoring Hitler over Maya Angelou may not score Democrats the political points they're expecting. by Matthew Yglesias

At 5pm, about 11 minutes before the govt filed its new contemptuous response in Abrego Garcia—asserting only that he was being held at CECOT under El Salvador’s “sovereign, domestic” authority—his attys asked Judge Xinis to order discovery & start contempt proceedings. Proposed order: 1/3

Nothing wrong with this headline. It just made me laugh.

What dictators do, not presidents: “the new, striking artwork depicting Mr. Trump drew criticism from some presidential historians, who could not recall another president hanging a painting of himself during his term in the White House.” www.nytimes.com/2025/04/11/u...

We love a good story🥹 📷: @angelcity.com

Hernandez: Why is there always money to bomb children in Gaza, but not enough to make sure every kid has a safe place to sleep in this country. We don't have a budget crisis. We have a crisis of our values

[email protected] responds to @sarahlongwell25.bsky.social's focus group clips of moderates vs. progressives: "I was watching them blindly, and I had to go back and be like, which one am I listening to? I'm so confused right now. You can't tell." *All* the Democratic voters want to fight.

I gave the rottweiler who killed all of my friends' babies a big, juicy steak and I'm here to tell you that you're all being a little melodramatic about Murderer the Rottweiler.

NPR first reported on the case of Charles Givens, a disabled inmate at Virginia's Marion Correctional Treatment Center, in 2023. Four corrections officers were accused of beating him to death and a fifth accused of negligence. Givens' sister, Kymberly Hobbs, sued the five men.

"The president is no longer bound by law, but he is protected by laws. The same laws that now permit him to, say, instruct Seal Team Six to assassinate the chief justice, also provide for him to complete his presidential term."

NEW: The Trump regime continues to defy court orders, and lawyers for Abrego Garcia - the Maryland father illegally disappeared to El Salvador - have initiated contempt proceedings. My latest: www.muellershewrote.com/p/contempt-p...

I just want to tip my hat to the crack team of White House economists who were able to discover--in just a few short days--that the U.S. is dependent on China for smartphones, computers and semiconductors.

Zero. Zero days before he exempted phones, chips, computers and other tech.

"When our economic actions lack transparency or coherence, when they seem impulsive rather than strategic, we alienate allies and embolden adversaries." Trust underpins prosperity. ICYMI @markhertling.bsky.social:

HAPPENING NOW: The Justice Department has missed a 5pm deadline to file details about Kilmar Abrego Garcia's whereabouts and efforts to comply with a judge's otder to facilitate his return. Still waiting to see if they're just a few minutes behind or not planning to file at all

Someone in the crowd is in medical distress while nurses are on stage at the fighting oligarchy rally. The nurses rush off stage to give medical aid

When you’ve lost the DAILY MAIL

This breaks me — because I can see my wife and daughter living through this. I don’t trust DHS, and you shouldn’t either because it could happen to anyone. They’re on a mission, and it feels lawless as hell.

Very fair requests by attorneys for Abrego Garcia⬇️ Needed transparency for all the detainees unlawfully sent to El Salvador torture center. - compel government to produce written documents on agreement with El Salvador - require government officials to appear as witnesses before district court

would love to see a volume/time graph on these for the past week

There is not a soul on earth who believes that President Bukele wouldn’t immediately release Abrego-Garcia if asked by the United States. President Bukele is coming to the United States this week; he can give Abrego-Garcia a ride on his plane!

Not sure of the paywall status with this but really enjoyed this piece in The New Yorker, assembling a practical guide to remaining fully American, even under Trump, w interviews from global dissident movements. Good stuff. www.newyorker.com/news/the-wee...

lord willing we will one day prosecute miller for crimes against humanity

Oligarchs didn’t seize power. They absorbed it. You still vote, but elections don’t decide anything. You still have laws, but they don’t constrain those who rule. The government still exists, but it doesn’t govern. Because the coup already happened. #MOG8 heyslick.substack.com/p/the-techna...
