I wrote about @locusmag.bsky.social for @reactorsff.bsky.social today, as they move forward with the #locusfundraiser reactormag.com/locus-magazi...

Lovelies, drop everything, I have the perfect timeline cleanse: A PUFFIN LIVECAM. www.youtube.com/watch?v=03P6... I cannot express how much I need this right now.

As AMNANDI SAILS (book 2 of the Khumalo trilogy) gets prepped for August release, catch up with book 1, available everywhere. One reader said BREATH WARMTH & DREAM "felt like discovering reading all over again." If there's anything makes a writer happier than that, I haven't found it.

Throwback Thursday. We've been thinking about the brilliance of Martha Wells' writing this week, because wow, we love Murderbot. The new Murderbot show is awesome, and we really did need a laugh this year. Read her backlist, too: torpublishinggroup.com/author/marth...

Thread, and a reminder that science fiction might take place in "the future," but it's written by people who live now, for people who live now. And we do write what we see.

In this new featured essay, @franwilde.bsky.social speaks to @locusmag.bsky.social's vital role in creating and connecting the SFF community. Locus's fundraiser closes very soon, and we'd love to see your support! reactormag.com/locus-magazi...

African SF story bundle ends tomorrow (Thursday). It includes my short story collection Jamaica Ginger & Other Concoctions, plus a ton of amazing books by amazing authors.

This new collection of stories by Neal Shusterman sounds cool. It will include new stories set in the world of Arc of the Scythe. Also, this book looks amazing and we are now obsessed by the artwork of @maxloeffler.bsky.social. www.publishersweekly.com/pw/by-topic/...

another handy eel for the handy eel pile 🖐️

I don't think you can quite separate out the greedy part -- papers removing writers, editors, fact-checkers, photographers sets a path to allowing for this type of thing to occur. Greed can be active, and have active effects, but it can also have passive ones, too.

PREORDER TIME! On May 27, Mulholland is bringing back ZERO SAINTS, the killer first novel by @gabino.bsky.social. It's a gritty dark gem of a book. If you haven't read it, this is your chance! #Booksky #HorrorNovel #ThrillerReads #BookCommunity www.hachettebookgroup.com/titles/gabin...

Over at LitHub, they are celebrating "Short Story Month." This is a great reminder to go read this Locus and Nebula-winnning story by P. Djèlí Clark. And after that, make plans to come meet the author at ArmadilloCon! lithub.com/one-great-sh... #amreading #horror #awardwinning

Yup! Come to ArmadilloCon and hang out with all the nerds. I mean, cool kids. ;-)

Went to the @armadillocon.bsky.social website and look who is on the home page. @cshumble.bsky.social and @raewilde.bsky.social we're famous! haha

Just accepted my invitation to @armadillocon.bsky.social! I’ve been twenty something times and it’s always a wonderful event. Can’t wait to see everyone there this summer and catch up!

F.A.C.T.’s book discussion group meets online on the first and third Monday of each month at 7PM. To get the link for an upcoming meeting, send an email to [email protected]. Tomorrow's book: The Cautious Traveler’s Guide to the Wastelands by Sarah Brooks! fact.org/event/readin...

Scythe might be YA but it has some hard-hitting, mature themes. I'm enjoying this book more than expected. #booksky #YAbooks

"I lay awake in the dark, listening to ghosts." Hurricane season is coming, and thast seems like a good excuse for a quick reminder that @joshrountree.bsky.social 's LEGEND OF CHARFLIE FISH is a wonderfully wierd read. tachyonpublications.com/product/the-...

🎉 Reading the list of finalists for the 2025 Locus Magazine Awards is such a delight. One of the books we are thrilled to see on the list is HOUSE OF BONE AND RAIN by @gabino.bsky.social, up for Best Horror Novel! Such an amazing year: locusmag.com/2025/05/2025...

‘SINNERS’ earns $33M in the film’s 3rd domestic weekend, a small 28% drop. It is also the 2nd biggest 3rd domestic weekend at the box office for a R-rated film, beating ‘Oppenheimer’ and ‘Joker’ Read our review: bit.ly/SinnersDF

I toured to elementary schools with puppet shows for a decade. Kindergarteners, man. After that, story rejections are a cakewalk.

I love Slow Burn romances. One of my favourite romantic passages involves Harriet Vane staring at the shape of Peter Wimsey’s EAR and then realising after three books, she deffo has the feels. Absolutely earned. What are your fav moments in a slow burn? (Can be a TV series, book, whatever.)

Zero. Zero is a number.

Delighted that this little nugget of a story has caught a win! Congratulations to the other winning authors, and thanks to @armadillocon.bsky.social for running such a fun contest!

AT THE EDGE (1988) Acrylic on Watercolor Board - 30" x 22" This was a commission for DAW based on an outline, but something happened to the author and he never finished the manuscript, so I guess you could say it’s an orphaned painting, forever waiting for a book. 1/2

Should have listened to the advice to never work with dogs. They will always upstage you. Photo by Vishnya Maudlin.

Okay, @marshalljmoore.bsky.social just described the Narnia books as, "What if Jesus was a furry?" and that's totally how I'm describing those books from now on.........

Happy tiara Tuesday! Love this filigree. Just seven pieces! 👑❤️

Best. Writing. Workshop. Ever.

I'm excited and honored to have a new story in this collection. What a great lineup V. has put together! My story is about a family who keeps getting caught in their own stories and the ghosts who want to keep it that way. Out in September!

it is long past time for the citizenry of the USA to come to terms with the fact that this country has for years and years been in the throes of a national potato chip flavour crisis

I have a flash story out called The Elevator Down, about investors visiting a tech company for a tour. Described as a 'dark commentary on capitalism & artificial intelligence.' Thanks for reading! Thanks to Weird Lit Mag for the inclusion in their Winter issue www.weirdlitmag.com/fiction/the-...

This is more important than you realize. Bluesky doesn’t downgrade links. Which means news sites will get more traffic from here than other sites. Which gives them economic reasons to post here first.

Locus, Hugos, and Aurora awards voting/nomination deadlines are coming up fast. I’d be thrilled if you consider my stories “Bright Horizons” and “The Life You’ve Given Me, Rusty” linked in my eligibility list below, or DM for copy. (Also Ignyte-eligible) www.pacornell.com/2024-awards-...
