🚨 Slovakia’s Robert Fico joins Viktor Orbán in threatening to veto the conclusions on Ukraine during next week’s EU summit. Fico wants wording on an “immediate ceasefire, regardless of the moment a final peace agreement is reached.”

Crystal clear initial analysis by APN. youtu.be/SaCbUtTuLhA?...

I think what makes this moment feel so big and groundbreaking is that even those among us who have been talking about the need/danger of a Europe without the US for a long time, were usually in the mindset of a US disinterested in Europe. But not a US actively hostile to Europe& European interests.

💥Scoop: As EU leaders rally around Zelensky in support, I have obtained this fresh letter from Viktor Orbán to António Costa, threatening to obstruct EU unity in support of Ukraine. As I previously wrote, Hungary is becoming a Trojan horse for Trump after already serving as one for China and Russia.

“If Roosevelt had told Churchill to sue for peace on any terms with Adolf Hitler and to fork over Britain’s coal reserves to the United States in exchange for no American security guarantees, it might have approximated what Trump did to Zelensky” www.nytimes.com/2025/02/28/o...

A poor market reception of Nvidia’s earnings and the specter of additional U.S. tariffs have knocked down Asian chip stocks, dragging Japan’s tech-heavy 225-issue Nikkei average down to its lowest level since September.

“With access to platform data, researchers can understand trends on social media — whether misinformation spreads, how extremist content is amplified, and how algorithms shape user behaviour, … . Without evidence, debates are theoretical and regulation pointless.”

U.S. President Donald Trump demurred Wednesday when asked if his administration would prevent Beijing from using force to take Taiwan — remarks that came as China's military held unannounced exercises near the island.

Reality check. Thank you, Financial Times.

Interesting to see that the trend of young men moving right holds across the U.S. and Germany. (Same with a smaller increase by young women) Chart from @crampell.bsky.social www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has apologized to citizens after Serbia voted in favor of a United Nations resolution calling for a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.

The EU and Ukraine share interests regarding the defence threat from Russia and the economic and political threat from the US. It's therefore not in the EU's interest to impoverish Ukraine in return for security.

It’s thanks to the old voters that the German democratic middle holds. Ask only the young, and you get 21% AfD and 25% LINKE (though I certainly don’t want to put these two at the same level, as much as I disagree with LINKE secdef policy). Source: www.spiegel.de/politik/bund...

A good illustration from Sweden of how military scale-up is not a problem you can simply throw money at: The Swedish defence forces are paying back 2.1bn Swedish crowns (€1.9 million) to the state budget as they were unable to use all the money allocated to the defence budget

Three years ago this morning, I was listening to Russian bombs fall on Ukraine. Three years on from Russia's full-blown invasion, its war continues. But Russia's attempt to subjugate Ukraine, undermine its sovereignty and erase its identity has been met with the fiercest resistance...

Fine episode. youtu.be/aIQxxoVlkyM?...

The EU is beefing up its subsea security. Today, we are taking steps to sanction saboteurs, deter adversaries and mobilise our military and civil capacities when needed. This includes boosting funding to safeguard critical infrastructure.

Hey foreign friends, there will be rallies in support of Ukraine this weekend all over the world. If you are able, please attend one of them. There's a link where you can find a rally closest to you. #UkrainianView uaworldmap.ukrainianworldcongress.org/en

Another script straight out of the FSB asset playbook. Even Putin-apologist Orban didn't take it this far!!!

Russia is executing surrendered Ukrainian soldiers. My @financialtimes.com doc with @christopherjm.ft.com and the visual investigations team looks at the evidence that these executions are Russian policy. Watch on YT www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Muw...

Will be exciting to see if NB8 can develop into a regional super power matching the largest European countries regarding defence and influence in Bruxelles (not all Nordics are in the EU). - rather long text - skim for important information.

Osechkin's source: FSB and SVR are currently working on organizing a coup against President Zelensky in Kyiv. It will involve Ukrainian officials who'd agree to capitulate to Russia in exchange for high power positions in the hypothetical puppet government of Ukraine.

Meanwhile in Russia: state TV host Vladimir Solovyov boasts that Trump's information comes straight from Putin after their 1 1/2 hour long phone call, as well as the preceding 3 1/2 hour long conversation between Putin and Trump's buddy Steve Witkoff. www.youtube.com/watch?v=RyeY...

Let’s take a dive into history.

Bottomless pit of a human being.

No country risks getting swallowed by the Russian order in its entirety like Georgia does, and nowhere it is as easy to end the suffering and help the people fulfill their will as in Georgia. One simply needs to have the will to target sanctions and continue non-recognition.

Volodymyr Zelenskyj og Mette Frederiksen topper særdeles markant i svenskernes tillid til internationale ledere. #dkpol

Worth repeating just how unserious big European states' aid to Ukraine has been ▪️ In 1990 Germany allocated a greater share of its GDP to support Kuwait than it does to Ukraine (0.2%) ▪️ Japan provides more bilateral aid than France, Italy and Spain in absolute and relative terms

No surprise: "Estonia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (EFIS) reports that Russia is expanding its armed forces in a way that “not only supports Russia’s war effort in Ukraine but also prepares for a potential future war with NATO.” @ukdefencejournal.org.uk ukdefencejournal.org.uk/intelligence...

Fantastic, clear-eyed analysis by @gideonrachman.bsky.social The Financial Times calls on Europeans to “de-risk” - from the US! Wow.

“But the truth is, this deal isn’t really meant to lead to sustainable peace — that was never the goal. Trump may believe in his second American revolution, but his interlocutors in Moscow don’t. “ Chilling and recommended read.
