Fucking sick that not even ProPublica the one good journalism outlet acts like this to their workers.

If the Pope is a ‘Marxist puppet’, then who is pulling the strings? And does that mean that Marx is God? 🤔

NEW: A 3-judge panel in Alabama has ruled that the 2023 congressional map adopted by the legislature both violates Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act and is intentionally discriminatory in violation of the 14th Amendment. The 527-page unanimous opinion here: drive.google.com/file/d/1LVmp...

BREAKING: Campaign Legal Center files a lawsuit seeking a fair congressional map in Wisconsin. The current map has resulted in unequal electoral power among voters. We're suing to ensure every Wisconsin voter has an equal say at the ballot box.

The Trump administration has ousted the leader of the Federal Emergency Management Agency and replaced him with another official, States Newsroom has confirmed. via @jennifershutt.bsky.social www.newsfromthestates.com/article/fema...

Well, Leo is a boring name for a pope. But on the other hand, the last Leo (XIII, died 1903) was all for science and scholasticism, and was sufficiently pro-labour rights as to be occasionally called the "Workers' Pope," if I remember rightly.

Fellow Worcesterites, ICE has been seen on Eureka Street near Webster Square. Stay safe, and if you see them anywhere else, report them to the LUCE hotline at 617-370-5023

I got to talk to @prettygrimgames.bsky.social for a brand new Second Wind series on, well, Storycraft! If you're a writer interested in actors (or vice versa) there's probably something on here for you in this episode. :)

West Virginia coal miners lose black lung screenings after Trump slashes worker safety agency NIOSH

Gavin Kliger, the DOGE boy who keeps firing masses of people, has left CFPB (but description of this as end of detail suggests he may be onto a new agency). news.bloomberglaw.com/banking-law/...

I actually yelled in horror when reading this

This falsehood has been circulating as gospel for half a year. I actually got grilled by Marsha Blackburn about this in December at the sole Senate hearing I’ve testified at and she seemed genuinely surprised to hear a rational explanation for why it’s not true that 300,000 kids are “missing.”

In Georgia, a mom facing eviction reached out to DFCS for help. They offered her nothing. Soon the agency took her kids away because of "inadequate housing." The state then paid *$6,200 a month* to house her kids in foster care. One of the most important and infuriating stories I read this year:

it's cool that the best possible outcome now, where these thugs and looters lose power forever and the ship gets righted as best as anyone can manage, is that all of our national data systems will have a years-long mini dark age

at the end of the day our billionaires mostly want to be plantation aristocrats

once again my full throated support and endorsement for any democrat who pursues criminal legal accountability for the DOGE boys. and i’d be fine with shipping these guys to the Hague

Here's one of my best friends (who, before being illegally fired, was the data scientist at NEH) showing just how much money NEH could distribute back out to US taxpayers based on their lifetime contributions. Get ready to make it rain with thousands of pennies y'all!

I can't emphasize enough how very little it matters what teens and 20somethings think of you (personal or generational) if you aren't a teen or 20something (and even then, like, does it really?), their parent, or maybe running for or holding office

The meme coin in Trumpism in miniature: a wealth extraction device built on Trump hype and misplaced loyalty.

Read.

Boeing is going to have no sales to Europe, so it gives them more time to fix 737s so they won't crash. Glass half full.

if Congress does not seize its powers back Trump *will* fly the American economy straight into the side of a mountain.

Something I hope everyone covers this tomorrow notes is that...the President has no authority whatsoever to make trade deals without congress. None. Not even the pretext of one.

that today's right wing explicitly takes political awareness as a named enemy just feels like bad writing, like this season of the America really doesn't trust its audience

Hearing from a friend how ICE on Tues was hanging out near both campuses of Mundo Verde in DC, a bilingual public elementary school, but never attempted entry. Why? In part bc "10 parents at each campus" offered to take shifts of working outside the school all day. That's community right there.

BREAKING: The Chicago City Council has voted to create a city-owned nonprofit housing developer. The city will now move ahead with Mayor Brandon Johnson’s plan to build affordable, mixed-income, sustainable housing.

Trump take baby

She came here as a toddler, and would have been eligible for DACA if the program was not ended. Now she is in ICE detention because she took a right turn on a red light. Her father is in the same detention center, arrested for a traffic violation two weeks prior. newschannel9.com/news/local/f...

Reframe the sentiment as “you only need two video games” and see how quickly the white American male gets involved in politics.

i am explicitly pro-technocrat because we are seeing the alternative

“As the meeting deteriorated, a staff member moved to end it and ushered the visitors into the hallway, where she broke down crying. The staffer was comforted by the teachers who were themselves rattled by Fetterman's behavior, according to a second person who was briefed separately on the meeting.”

When I was an undergrad at Columbia, the school was still recovering from what happened in 1968 almost three decades later. I wonder how long it’ll take to recover from this nonsense.

I still haven’t figured out if UK politicians know this

I told the story before — for five years I got death threat by a Japanese person who even stole my parents’ address from the govt database and was sending them something. I went to police in Japan and after long considerations got “just don’t pay attention”.

ICYMI: Max, Warner Bros. Discovery's streaming service, just made itself even less useful by dumping hundreds of seasons of these cable reality TV shows. Why? Who knows!

The Nintendo Switch 2 launches in less than one month, so you should know that it may use some of its new features to record your audio and video chat sessions.

Conservative prosecutors under Biden said that his testimony was confused and can't be relied on, and it was a multi-week, breaking-news-push-notifcation news story. Conservative lawyers WORKING FOR TRUMP said that his remarks are confused and can't be relied on and it won't make page A18 tomorrow
