I'm pretty sure the point of today's ruling is that you need to carry your parents' birth certificates, too.

The hypocrisy and the cowardice are mind-boggling. Under his own EO, Trump, his father, and four of his five children would not be citizens despite being born in the U.S. By focusing on who has standing rather than the 14th Amendment the Court gives Trump license to rewrite the Constitution.

As Kamala said, we are not going back. And now that means we're not going back to Business as Usual. -30-

We don't have to let the rich own the government. That's why Mamdani won. He offered an alternative -- small "d" democratic socialism -- to Trump's Reaganism and Fascism on Steroids. And that's why people like Larry Summers and the NY Times editorial board are quaking in their boots. 7/

We don't have to put up with vast inequalities of wealth. We don't have to put up with socialism for the rich and corporations and dog eat dog social darwinism for the rest of us. 6/

So it's not just a matter of getting rid of Trump and burning MAGA to the ground. It's not just a matter of healing the institutions that Trump and MAGA have spent the past five months trying to destroy. We will continue to be in this awful state until someone comes along and says: 5/

Hence Trump, who is doing everything possible to make sure ALL the wealth goes to the billionaire class and all the power goes to him. 4/

(1) Scorched earth opposition by MAGA Republicans and corporate interests; (2) Sell-out Democrats like Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema; (3) Corporate owned legacy media that focused exclusively on conflict, disregarded issues, and routinely denigrated Democratic accomplishments. 3/

The problem is that "business as usual" isn't working and hasn't been for a long time. Biden and company made tremendous strides in trying to reverse 40+ years of Reaganism but it wasn't enough thanks to: 2/

Andrew was vaguely entertaining during his Obama crush but he reverted to type when Putin and James Comey helped defeat Hillary. I haven't been able to read him since then.

Just reminder: 12 years ago today SCOTUS overturned DOMA (U.S. v. Windsor), thus requiring the federal government to recognize same sex marriages. 22 years ago it handed down Lawrence v. Texas, abolishing sodomy laws. Not counting on these decisions surviving the same court that overturned Roe.

That's what I was trying to say. Their focus on Biden and their unwillingness to ask questions isn't going to save them. For now they're still willing to say "Trump claims Sun now comes up in the West but scientists say otherwise..." but eventually even that won't be enough. Their goose is cooked.

Corporate owned legacy media are hoping that if they spend all their time trashing Biden then Trump won't yank their licenses, sue them for $40 gazillion, or lock them up. Complicity only gets you so far with autocrats. They have now moved on to collaboration.

You are reading that correctly, although this was (as I understand it) a shadow docket stay of an injunction instead of an official ruling regarding the constitutionality of the practice. Theoretically they could come back and say, "nope, not legal," but that seems highly unlikely.

...required the federal government to recognize same-sex marriages. (3) Obergefell v. Hodges, which struck down laws against same-sex marriages. They were handed down in 2003 (Lawrence), 2013 (Windsor), and Obergefell (2015.) Will they survive a SCOTUS that overturned Roe? Not counting on it.

It may not be cash in hand but he's getting something out of it. Every single thing he does is transactional.

Cruelty is the point. Sadism is the point. Brutality is the point. As others have noted, human suffering is also a profit center. The gulags run by ICE and the president of El Salvador are big business.

It's MAGA'S campaign slogan, whether or not they're willing to admit it. It's the Dems job to tie it around MAGA'S neck so tight their eyes pop out.

Helluva campaign slogan, ain't it? It's our job to repeat it over and over again (assuming we have elections again...)

...to foreign gulags or dumped on countries with which they have no ties, linguistic or cultural. It's weaponized sadism and as others have pointed out it's sadism for profit. It's an absolute betrayal of everything this country has ever stood for. No, we have never lived up to our ideals. 3/
