Yes this is true but I think it's equally important that we sent an entire generation off to fight brown people while training them to worship the flag and deadly war gear. That's why we're so fucking militarized.

Pride of Worcester, MA. Trivia: That polar bear was originally called Whitey but now he's Orson. Big inflatable version next to the highway that's been swiped many times over the years. Also, they don't make regular soda (tonic) flavors anymore, but Polar Cola rhymed in the local accent.

It all is. Everything about Trump 2.0 is as absurdly bad as it possibly could be in every dimension. It was the last time too but somehow it's now 1000x worse.

They can't because they'll suffer unsurvivable psychic injury to admit they were so wrong about so much for so long.

Trump's superpower, if you want to call it that, is a complete lack of shame. His followers love that it gives them permission to be the same way.

At leat Putin's Little Green Men in Crimea all wore military uniforms.

Trump's posture -- and therefore his entire administration's -- isn't, "Is this legal or ethical?" but, "Who can stop me?" If the answer isn't crystal clear they're just gonna do it.

Someone said that ChatGPT prose sounds like it was written by a golden retriever and I can't unsee it now.

No lie detected. My daughters says all this fuckery is on old white guys and, while I didn't vote for or support any of this, it's my cohort that did it. We're the first generation that made the world demonstrably worse for our kids.

Thanks I will try that! I actually didn't remember seeing the hashtag, just assumed it existed. That should cut down. BTW my daughter is a huge knitter, I buy her a Webs certificate every birthday! I'll suggest this group to her.

This is the most spot-on post of all time. They're not just pulling up the ladder, they have moved into burn-it-all-down-now profit-taking.

I'm a dilettante with Merlin on my phone and a new (1 week) camera bird feeder but it's a blast. There are birds all around us. Oddly none of these have visited the feeder except the chipping sparrow. I get cardinals, black-capped chickadees and bluebirds. Oh! Just fed the house finches!

Outlook's been doing this for decades. Microsoft is good at this.

You cannot have such wild and sudden changes to the economy without wide-ranging negative impacts. When I was a young Reagan Republican I resented the waste and bureaucracy of government, but now I realize government spending is a backbone of the economy -- and not nearly as wasteful as portrayed.

Unfortunately the fascists can count on 30% of the population supporting them and another 30% doing nothing to stop them. That's why they can rule from the minority. For a while anyway, but we're in the middle of that now.

Always been a fan of Dave and this song, but when I found the glorious Smiley Lewis version several years back -- a full Blueberry Hill treatment -- I grew respect for both the song and the cover. www.youtube.com/watch?v=DIeY...

Many years ago I made this observation to a family member (in-law) and her response was, "Well then just get an SUV. I can see everything up here." She later became a Trumper and anti-vaxxer and is permanently on oxygen because of a covid infection that nearly killed her (and did kill her sister).

This is a heartbreaking example of why I say Trumpers are all gone and ain't ever coming back. The idea of ever stopping creates unsurvivable psychic injury, in admitting that they were so wrong about so much for so long. This woman can't face killing her own child.

Exactly. I say that if you told me any of this would happen (from the escalator to now) I would have laughed in your face. Yet here we are.

This is true. Young men support Trump. My son's circle, good kids I've known since they were children, are big-time MAGA (not my son, fortunately). Breaks my heart.
