First roll of color film in a while. New Cinestill devloper and I'm ready to rock n' roll again. Shot on Kodak Gold 200, devloped & scanned myself. Still learning my new to me Olympus SuperZoom3500, but liking it so far. #believeinfilm #35mm #filmisnotdead #kodak #shotonfilm

Sidecover Sunday: Today we are venturing into the unknown... the timing mechanism for this late 80s Yamaha XS1100s have a mysterious vacuum diaphragm that I never understood what it does. Because there is already a centrifugal advance on the shaft. #motorcycle #motosky #yamaha #motorcyclerepair

Sidecover Sunday This week's post is all about balance. This aftermarket clutch failed when the bearing for the shaft that pulles the clutch plates apart broke. Stonger springs were used increasing the stress on that bearing. Stronger isn't always better. #motorcycle #motosky #motorcyclerepair

Tried out my new to me Olympus SuperZoom 3500. I'm pretty impressed, love the clarity of a mirrorless camera. Shot on Ilford FP4 Plus. My favorite film. Devloped myself in D-76 (1:1) #believeinfilm #35mm #filmisnotdead #Olympuscamera #ilford

Sidecover Sunday: This Sportster stator is unique because it's a "Two Phase" a/c stator. Meaning there are two wires alternating each stator pole creating two sine waves of alternating current that help to create more even pulses of direct current once rectified. #motosky #motorcycle

Analog Motorcycles and B&W film photography have a lot in common. The Magna's a complex beast, but it is unique. So is Wolfen ISO 8 film, and when it works, it's beautiful. 🎞 Orwo Dp31 #motosky #motorcycle #believeinfilm #35mm #wolfenfilm

Sidecover Sunday: Taking a look inside a Honda dream motor restored a couple years ago. The Dream innovated by putting the engine, transmission & clutch all in one box. Today it's the most common design for a motorcycle engine. #motosky #motorcycle #honda #motorcyclerepair

Three Cylinder Engines warm my heart. Trying out Ilford Delta100 for the first time. #motorcycle #suzuki #ilforddelta100 #ilford #filmphotography

Sidecover Sunday. This Triumph from the early 1970s has a "unitized" construction meaning the engine crankcase, transmission, and primary were connected into two casting halves. Though the three compartments remained seperated with their own fluids. #motorcycle #triumph #repair

Going to a friend's barbecue this weekend and didn't want to show up empty handed. This is a much quicker and less detailed drawing than I typically do, but it feels good to get out of my comfort zone... sometimes. #wipart #sketch #subaru #drawing

Enjoying the moments of joy during a winter where they've been few & far between. Captured Aaron cleaning his German VW TDI Sportwagon on German film. How meta of me. #wolfenfilm #35mm #filmphotography #vwjetta

Taking apart a Yamaha R3 engine today to [hopefully] fix an oil leak near the countershaft. The tight clearances between the balancing shaft and crankshaft are nothing short of extraordinary and is a good representation of how advanced engines have become. #yamaha #motorcycle #repair #engine

Today is a very special Sidecover Sunday! I'm posting one of my favorite bike designs ever, the Yamaha AT3. This bike has a DC Dynamo that generates electrical current and does double duty as an electric starter! I think it's a beautifully elegant design. #yamaha #motorcyclerepair #electricity

Back at my camera project. I was frustrated & nervous about taking it this far apart, but I'm glad I did, and the process is teaching me as much about myself as it is about camera repair. #diy #camerarepair #filmcamera #yaschica

Ever wondered what's inside an Ignition Coil? I Have.... #electricity #inductor #motorcyclerepair #smallengine

Sidecover Sunday! Small engine week, a Honda XL250 & Two-Stroke Yamaha 125cc. Both with their flywheel covers removed, I love these simple electrical systems, with separate windings for the ignition circut. #motorcyclerepair #yamaha #twostroke #motorcycle #electricalsystem

Complex Carbs... working on restoring the fuel system of a Honda Magna last week. #motorcyclerepair #downdraftcarb #hondamagna #motorcycle #carburetor #vaporhoning

2 Sidecover 2 Sunday.... It's Harley week, these photos help illustrate what makes Harley's unique amongst new bikes, they continue to use chains to connect the crank to clutch, smoothing out the force. Also pushrods to open the valves. #motorcyclerepair #harleysportster #motorcycle #bike

Hydraulic brakes are great until their fluid becomes more of a gel/goo. These calipers off a Triumph Daytona were causing the rider to pull in the brake lever until it almost hit the grips to apply the brake. A good cleaning solved the problem. #motorcyclerepair #hydraulics #fluiddynamics

Sidecover Sunday! What's behind those outer layers of motorcycle engines? It's fun to take a peek and see. These are all from 2024 projects. Looking forward to jumping back into our busy season and the deluge of these "smaller" projects. #motorcyclerepair #engine #clutch #motorcycle

Finished scanning the roll of B&W Film from last weekend's photo-walk. Though I overdeveloped the film, some of the photos came out unexpectedly nice. A good reminder to appreciate the "happy little accidents" when making art. 📷 Canon Rebel EosG 🎞 Wolfen NP100

Had a great time getting out of the house and shooting this roll of Wolfen NP100 film last weekend. Sadly, I think I overdeveloped it a bit. Oh well, part of the learning process and one of the things I love about film. #wolfennp100 #shotonfilm #filmphoto #rosslynva

Excited to see how these turned out. Developed yesterday, hopefully scanning this evening #orowfilm #black&whitefilm

Reflecting on how much I appreciate the Metro. How it's not just transportation, but a liminal space I often find myself sitting with big feelings in. 🎞 Cinestill 50d & Wolfen DP31 #wmata #publictransit #shotonfilm

People walking on the Potomac today! I'm definitely not going to risk going out there, but wild so see people brave enough to try it

This was Ernie, a beautiful fantail goldfish who was a wonderful part of my life for the last 5 years. He passed last Friday, and although I'm very sad not to see him when I come home anymore, I'm thankful for all the great memories together. #goldfish

What has 60,000mi on a motorcycle taught me? I'm honestly unsure, but thinking about all my memories on two wheels has been cathartic going through a difficult time without Ernie.

Finally warming up in DC, so figured I'd post some more pictures from the big snow on 1/6. L'enfant plaza looked quite pretty in a covering of snow. 📷 Canon Rebel EosG 🎞 Wolfen DP31

We're in it to win it now. Tore down the camera farther to take a look at the contacts in the shutter release button & the "pad of death" a rubber stopper on these cameras known to go bad by swelling over time. Need to confirm the shutter still opens, then should be able to start reassembly

Embarking on a new challenge, making the Yaschica Electro35 I found on ebay work again. Maybe I won't be able to and it'll just be a desk ornament. That's okay too, anything's better than thinking about how cold & dismal everything is right now.

From a photo-walk at the end of '24. Before everything froze over. Shot on Ilford FP4
