I can’t respond directly to @stephenkb.bsky.social post on the Passport Office but I am staggered by how efficient it is. I decided to renew last Monday and had a digital photo taken and applied online that afternoon. My new passport arrived on Friday morning, in fewer than 96 hours! Astonishing.

The genius of the way Abi Tierney turned the UK Passport Office around was unlocking, bluntly, a way to price-gouge people who could afford to be gouged without hurting anyone who couldn't, and I really wish the UK government had just put her in charge of 'finding more ways to do that'.

Great stuff - that's exactly right. Trump is dangerous... and the UK needs to rebuild with the rest of Europe as quickly as possible, for defence, trade, opportunity, environment, standards and protection of our democracy and values from a hostile Trump/Musk-led US.
