185 hours on Persona 5 Royal - next nearest 36 hours somehow not destroying my relationship playing Overcooked 2 π

That's fair, an empress is not an 'ordinary' person by any reckoning π

Vandermeer's Ambergris trilogy perhaps? Also wondering if Raymond E Feist's Empire trilogy also applies here - there is readacross to Magician which is high fantasy but the Empire itself is fairly low magic if I recall.

A great trilogy!

I was at that Jonas out game vs Chelsea so yeah you're right that fans don't always bring the joy π₯² I think that kind of atmosphere is still more powerful than disinterest though (or perhaps I've just learned to suffer)

Ooh I love Sharon D Clarke! A queen πΈπΎ

I just think one area where the analogy falls down is that football can be boring! I'm not really a Swift fan but if I went to her concert I'm sure I'd pay attention! Enough fans need to care - that drives the atmosphere imho in a low scoring sport. The Counterpressed pod is good on this theme.

All herbs and spices need to be 50-100% more than the recipe recommends + salt and butter nearly always improve things (except heart health perhaps)

It had a lot of 'somehow Palpatine returned' logic

Yes - a new version of Rome feat Denzel π₯. Best thing about that movie by a long way - he also had the best fits

I lived in Mexico City for a couple of years (a long time ago) and the flaking thing was very prevalent also but worse, because people would often just not show up rather than actually cancelling! I think culturally it might have been considered less rude, but it was infuriating!

Not sure how I managed that tbh π

170+ hours in to persona 5!

I do a rough one in one out policy because I hate having too many games that I'm not playing! On a cozy game kick at the moment for obvious reasons

It's also a bit of a grift - a few yrs ago when I was applying for masters they charged $100+ for the privilege! Small change for them.

I found it weird that they chose to include the assault scene. I wondered if it was an explicit decision to retain a lot of the 80s mores. They made quite a few narrative choices that you wouldn't today - its an adaptation that feels very much of the era. It does tickle my nostalgia receptors tho.

I agree it's chaotic. I was initially was told the same by SSE but when it changed to Ovo I got one installed in my basement and it works fine. But doesn't solve the issue that they didn't plan for basements which are so common!

Yep poor phrasing by me - that's more accurate

I'm sad - it was flawed certainly but I was keen to see S2. I really enjoyed the fight scenes. A bit concerned about Star Wars in the medium term - cost cutting = fewer TV shows and I'm sceptical about the Filoni-verse. They could spend that Β£1m to improve the app anytime though!

Social security coordination in the TCA potentially counts as one (though it was mutually beneficial - one of the few rights retained for UK and EU nationals after Brexit)
comment in response to
post
Think Labour have fairly clear asks on improving the TCA but the danger is of a lot of effort and time expended to achieve relatively small beer changes. Stop me if you've heard this one before...

Yeah Threads appears to be more of a broadcast space - for that reason I wonder whether football Twitter/X will be one of the last to decamp
comment in response to
post
Yes it will continue to be a slow puncture out of X, with accompanying waves to Bluesky, Threads et al. Both the regulatory and financial prospects look...not good. I'm just sad that the football chatter seems to be gathering on Threads which I'm resisting joining.

This is great, I saw the conversation for the first time this yr and loved it - thanks for sharing. I agree - his failure to ask about the couple is a symptom of his isolation and paranoia. He's a good eavesdropper, not a good detective because he's lost the ability to connect with people imho.

I wonder if it reflects the changing TV landscape. I think the season long arc model (which doesn't suit discovery imho) is waning for a bunch of reasons. If they had made X-Men 97 six years ago perhaps they would have followed that structure too. It's much defter without it.
